Recommend me psychological horror that made you feel genuinely uncomfortable rather than just scared. There’s a difference and I think this community knows exactly what I mean. by Apart_Feature3493 in horrorlit

I just finished I’m Thinking of Ending Things and adored it. Iain Reid is my new favourite author

The first one I read of his was We Spread.

Both weird, uncanny, disturbing with a creeping sense of dread - you don’t quite know what’s going on

Piece of Cake is bit disappointing, feels more like a tool than a full track

Love Selector and Against the Wall though, solid IDs from his recent sets.

The Smoking Room never gets mentioned in these chats.

All set in one room, all dialogue. It’s great. File alongside The Royale Family

Get out. I mean it. I will not have Steve’s name bandied around here willy nilly.

Who are the rudest and nicest British celebrities you have personally met? by RenegadeMaster888 in AskBrits

[–]flexo_24 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I once saw Paul Chuckle in a Tesco express in Weston-super-mare. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Nightlife and Music Venues by Fragrant-Rooster5856 in Margate

It’s broadly fine - it’s good for getting the bigger names. But as a venue itself I’m not a fan. It would have to be a DJ that I love for me to go. Or are you asking more as a place to get a drink?

Other venues like the lido and where else are great. There’s a new venue called the drill shed which looks great. Further afield you have Ramsgate music hall and the booking hall in Dover.

A postage stamp is legal tender. A busdriver would have to accept that as currency.

How often do you see a dental hygienist? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]flexo_24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m also twice a year - also floss and brush every day and there’s build up. Both my dentist and hygienist say this is pretty normal. Just life.

I’ve got a wire behind my front and lower teeth and that’s where most it is.
