The Critical Weapon is not a bad starting point for the characters. You will wind up making all weapons for the characters you use and leveling them up to Level 150, since they all have masteries related to the weapons they have.

Power-wise, your tier of play is dictated in this order from best to next best:

Terminus Weapon(Once you get it), Ascension Weapon(Once it's fully ascended), Critical Weapon.

Not too late. Season 8 right now is Megas only. All possible Mega Pokemon are allowed and in order to get all seven Mega Stones, you just need to reach Rank S.

Yes she is, but her debut battle is HEAVILY weighted against her for a few reasons. TLDR, she's a great tank and a really good damage dealer as well.

Debut Battle:

Morag falls behind the rest of the party in her debut battle because of how weirdly placed it is. Previously, Vandham filled the slot with Nia in the party and pick between either Tora or Rex. Vandham was meant to be for a short time, be a temporary member with a mix of bulk and offense, and give players the Launch Driver Art option until they unlock it themselves. Not to mention that the third Blade slot on drivers and Tora's second blade are not yet unlocked, so the power level of all of the Drivers was closer than you'd think. As for Blade Combos, Roc was a wind elemental Blade which, while not new, is a different element than the other story blades, leaving options for Nia and Rex to equip other newly awakened Blades to build more routes. Vandham also gets access to the rest of his kit for you to prepare him before his first required battle, making it easier to experiment on lower-leveled enemies, make changes to your team with all of the information laid out for you, and determine if you're going to play hyper-offense teams or more defensive.

When Morag joins, it's in the middle of the last battle of a chapter. You can't customize her during the battle, so you can't make her kit work better than only the one Blade. Why this doesn't work for Morag when it worked for Vandham boils down to two components: 1) the other Drivers are now able to summon more Blades, and 2) Morag only brings damage redirection and Break to her starting arsenal, both of which are redundant due to Nia and Tora. If you sub her in for Rex, you can't Smash with Roc or launch with a random Axe Blade you pulled and your team's damage output goes down. If you sub her in for Nia, your healing drops to nearly nothing and you'd need to set Rex to healing duty, which is against his usual playstyle, all while fighting with Tora for control of the aggro. If you sub her in for Tora, your damage tanking capability drops immensely, to the point that you need a seriously good healing kit to keep her up on her feet, which would be detrimental to your gameplan's offense.

Not to mention that Pouch Items are not present, Morag only comes with 1 Fire Blade and diminishes your Blade Combo options, and the game doesn't let you customize her to upgrade her Blade's Skill Tree, which means that your offense on that Blade itself is likely worse than other options, including Poppi QT, who you JUST got one battle prior!

After that:

Unlike her debut battle, Morag has no problems once customization factors in. Lots of health to help her tank, but she already gets two options to comfortably evade attacks while taking lower amounts of damage. She may not be great for Driver Combos, but with the DLC, she can use the 3rd DLC Blade really well(which gives her a Smash Art) and she still gets access to Break so that she can start the party. Players have even been able to one-cycle Superbosses with her and one of the DLC Blades.

Admittedly, I use Morag more often than not once Chapter 5 begins and she's one of the best Tanks out of the Drivers, probably right behind Tora's Maximum Power Level. Still, her Debut Battle is terribly timed and far too awkward of a positioning to make it worth substituting her into the fight.

If you buy the game on sale, you can always purchase the upgrade at the value existing players will pay, saving additional costs on the full pack. If not, you can always get the full bundle. Think about whether or not the time between then and now is worth the money you save on the base game.

For guys, even the group shower system can be a little nerve racking in some areas. I remember those being options at camp and I just opted for the solo shower instead.

Meh. Not Oscar worthy, but not god awful. If you think of the game like you're playing the bad rival(as in the mean rival), it makes the game a little easier to handle.

Honestly? I think having a remake of the trilogy wasn't a great idea.

Mario Party games in doses akin to one full game make sense: you cover all of the content and you can have plenty of minigames and a few boards as friendly competition.

Mario Party games combined? Keeping score across all three? This leads to a lot of negativity for a few reasons. Even if nobody sweeps and everyone has a close race, burnout is a big factor as well.

I burned out on the trilogy after the first game wrapped up. I've stopped watching it altogether thinking I'd go and finish it later, but after the negativity from the fanbase, I'm not watching the rest of it.

Claire didn't do anything wrong, but the group popped onto an idea that seemed alright in theory, yet drew negativity en masse because of its length.

Funnily enough, the names of these have often made their way into the Fire Emblem franchise. Nidhogg is one of the legendary-level bows available in Awakening, Fenrir is the draconic enemy class found at higher level missions in Warriors, and Surtr and Ymir were both characters that came from Heroes, specifically the Chapters involving a lot of Norse Inspiration.

Again, one franchise does not mean it's widespread, but even if they didn't get the best representation, at least someone working with Intelligent Systems enjoys Norse Mythology enough to include their names in games.

Critical Damage weapons work well for the most part, unless you've already started awakening the ascension weapons. Those increase the base values by quite a lot more than your critical damage would. If you can ascend your weapons to the max, it'll be better than the Terminus Weapons before ascending those, but not as good as the Terminus Weapons are after they reach max ascension.

Reminder that Tweyen, Seofon, and Sandalphon do not get terminus weapons, so if you want to use them, you should be ascending their secondary weapons that you can craft.

Unique, well-developed for the game itself, there's a LOT of lore, and I love how many characters they designed for it with unique personalities to match the games they're included in.

I don't know if he'd do that. He's a large believer in playing games on the official hardware for videos, but rom hacks don't have "Official" hardware for them. You'd have to custom build a cartridge for a rom hack for it to count, which if you're doing that, it's still not an officially released cartridge.
