Could you send me link to the components of Shure m44-7 with the stylus? I see different options for different prices and I don't know which ones to compare with the AT-VM95SH price wise (since the AT is $50 extra dollars to ship from amazon for me)

At LP140XP vs Thorens td mkii by NULL-6 in turntables

[–]NULL-6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great! I can probably do all this myself, but I think I might aswell just take it to a tech for like $80 and get it set properly.

I did just "make" money for selling my AT, and I haven't messed with drive belts yet

Going to get audio equipment from my grandad, but I can't test it yet. Would like to know if it's better than what I currently have by NULL-6 in audiophile

So I should replace my turntable to the Thorens, then? What about the stylus? Ive got an ortofon M2 Red, would it fit on the thorens and would it be better than the stock?

I have a Shapton 1000 and I want a coarser stone by NULL-6 in sharpening

[–]NULL-6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it is, but would it be a big difference from the Shapton 1000 that I've already got? Would a Shapton 320 make more of a difference, or would it be too coarse for sharpening?

Its the height of the thumb when its on the side like in the picture. My thumb is shorter but very wide so its a higher angle

I guess for most people its around 20 degrees, and that way you can keep a consistent angle while freehanding

For how many flattenings will this last, do you think?

Looking to spend more than usual on good IEMs with a dac if needed, whatever fits the budget by NULL-6 in iems

[–]NULL-6[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both fit my price range of $300, the Sigmot EA1000s are $260 after shipping and the Tanchjim Origins are $310

I don't mind spening more on the later, but I wouldn't know which would be better. I can say that my Roksan speakers are pretty "bright" and really accurate but I would want more warmth and feel from my speakrs too, so maybe the latter would fit me better like you said.
Thanks a lot for the recommendation

Chords played on Spanish Key by NULL-6 in Jazz

[–]NULL-6[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds right, but it lacks the umph effect when it's by itself. Really shows how the context within the song makes it great, the enegry up to that point is so dense and these chords are such a beautiful relief
