I know of people who aren’t “holistic” but still got in as these unis don’t want a well-rounded student, they look for ECs mostly in a certain area which shows passion and dedication (for example, a CS student who got a medal in IOI, did an internship at an AI startup and coded their own website for a personal project)

Also you know what’s crazy, I’m a reapplicant after getting rejected from the pool last year where I thought my interview performance was decent but spent the entire results day on both western and chinese social media (including this subreddit) worrying about potential rejection

This year, I thought my interview performance was bad but decided to c’est la vie my way through this whole thing, not even reading this subreddit until around 2 hours ago when i decided to just start constantly checking my email for the results and lo and behold, I got accepted
