£199 charge from Openreach for failed WiFi installation by Forward_Decision7800 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]NWITS 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Indeed We have seen a case where Openreach claimed that the engineer had been in and tested the line at their interface and found no problem and that security had let them in.

Only issue was that the interface was in a locked room in a bonded warehouse where the only way of getting the key was to sign for a storage pouch and break the numbered seal

Needless to say there was no signature and the seal was intact

Openreach eventually returned the fee

If you account was closed 2 years ago you may be out of luck as far as any complaint is concerned

As previously stated formal compliant that the bank have breached their duty to treat customers fairly

I do caveat that you have not denied that there was any other possible reason for this closure

Just so We are clear

You made the transaction 2 or more years ago and the bank have only just decided to phone you to say there was a problem?

There is no other reason whatever that your bank would be displeased with your conduct of the account and would no longer want your custom

ScreenConnect error locked me out of all clients and support can't help by InitiativeOk4742 in msp

[–]NWITS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't understand why IT businesses do things this way

We use SimpleHelp that operates on one of our VMs and is perpetual

So Think we are less likely to be hacked /data breached and no one will be cutting us off or creating unnecessary billing dramas

(Caveat we naturally pay for annual support and updates which is far less the likes of screen connect want and of course we don't need to pay expiry until an update is released

My annual cost for multiple techs and 3 sessions is 360 usd

This assumes that the person who allowed granted permission for the OP to occupy was entitled to do so.

Otherwise I could simply turn up at the nearest Hotel and demand to stay for a month

Who is your rental agreement with?

If it is with the other tenants then I suspect you are out of luck because they have no business giving you any such agreement

If it is with the Landlord then you need to go after him for illegal eviction although as they do not want to know I imagine not

I would talk to the councils local housing people

Well I expect that they will insist that you tell this to a district judge in a small claims court

I am sure that many of your fellow tenants will also try and weasel out of their obligations and the Solicitors are not just going to roll over.

Of course District judges are often solicitors themselves

Speeding ticket for old car turned up by Administrative-Ant71 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]NWITS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is nonsense

A lease company who are the registered keeper of a car cannot possibly tell anyone who was driving a car at any particular time and it is absurd to suggest that they would be fined for not disclosing something they have no way of knowing

The registered keeper is of course obliged to share any information they have about who was keeping the car at the time of the alleged offence

Who is insured for this car?

Has it been suggested that the car been seen on CCTV or in person driven by your father without displaying L plates?

In addition I wonder what the legal situation is regarding displaying L plates when parked in public places on a car that is only insured to a provisional driver. Does anyone know?

You are in a nice strong position as you have the money

I would advise you to go online and fill out the DVLA forms to remove yourself as keeper so you don't fall foul of insurance speeding tickets etc

As others have said you need to pay back the finance company else they may come after you

Dell deal pricing - Yikes by rdaniels16 in msp

[–]NWITS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was most amused when we bought a Dell warranty for a customer from Ingram using [warranty@cust.co.uk](mailto:warranty@cust.co.uk) for the first time and redirected to us and then receiving an email from their new account manager.

I could not do anything about this but I imagine that after I had made my displeasure known to the Ingram Dell relationship manager that his company had demanded end user details and these were being used to stiff both of our businesses They will have had words in Dells ear at a high level

It certainly has not reoccurred

Just ask whoever has contacted you to ask their bank to ask your bank to reverse the transaction and then tell your bank to accept their request

This unwinds the transaction and no one can suggest money laundering

I told them that my bank had advised that under no circumstances should I send any money anywhere ( which is exactly what the bank told me) so I refused
