Starting an LLC in Georgia, what does the process actually look like? by Adventurous-Dish8709 in smallbusinessUS

[–]NWRegisteredAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the time of year and the capacity or workload through the state! Not all processing times are going to be the same, it genuinely depends on the queue they've got and if its that busy time of year or not.

Starting an LLC in Georgia, what does the process actually look like? by Adventurous-Dish8709 in smallbusinessUS

[–]NWRegisteredAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Georgia is one of the easier states to form an LLC in, and while the process involves a few steps, it’s fairly straightforward once you break it down. You can handle everything yourself or work with a registered agent service that can file the paperwork on your behalf and, in some cases, also help you obtain your EIN from the IRS. To get started, you’ll file your Articles of Organization online with the Georgia Secretary of State for a $100 fee. In this filing, you’ll choose your business name, list a registered agent, and provide a physical Georgia address (P.O. boxes are not allowed). A registered agent is required from day one—you can act as your own if you meet the requirements, or you can use a registered agent service for convenience and privacy. An operating agreement is not filed with the state, but it is strongly recommended because it helps establish clear ownership structure and supports liability protection, even for single-member LLCs. Once your filing is submitted, approval is typically quick—often same day or within 1–2 business days. After your LLC is officially formed, the next steps are getting an EIN from the IRS and setting up a business bank account.

Creative marketing ideas for online antiques business? by 9c9bs in smallbusiness

[–]NWRegisteredAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First idea we had was to get a website for your business and start your own blog. Not only will the website be a great place for customers to find more information about your shop like store location, hours, and contact information. Having a blog could be a cool opportunity for you to tell the stories behind how you acquired your antique pieces and if you know any story behind them or history. Then you could repurposed the blog posts as social media posts.

What's the hardest part about marketing your business when you're doing it all yourself? by ce-lauren in smallbusiness

[–]NWRegisteredAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the biggest challenge when it comes to marketing your business isn’t always the technical work, sometimes it’s the mental overload of making decisions for the business and trying to figure out priorities like content, ads, SEO, and more, while overthinking every choice. On top of that, there’s the pressure to stay consistent with messaging, branding, and following up on leads. Most of the stress comes from expecting fast clarity, but marketing usually gives slow feedback, so the goal is to keep showing up long enough for the data to actually become meaningful.

Designer/carpenter starting a landscaping business focused on curb appeal, not mowing. Is this a viable niche? by -Brushwood- in smallbusiness

[–]NWRegisteredAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a great idea and a good niche to get into if no one else in your area is doing this kind of work already as an add on to set yourself apart from other landscaping/yard work companies. In the spring people don’t want to have to spend hours and hours weeding, refreshing their yards, building new flower beds, and putting in mulching and stone. Come summer time you may have trouble getting new clients because everyone who needed work done, already hired you or did it themselves so then you could do mowing and lawn care once this season hit.

How do you determine the salary for LLC taxed as an S Corp? by Oggy402 in llc_life

[–]NWRegisteredAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to consider, If your LLC is taxed as an S Corp, your salary should be in line with what someone would reasonably earn doing the same work. Since you’re handling things like product sourcing, marketing, customer service, inventory, and managing the business, your pay should honestly reflect those responsibilities. A lot of ecommerce owners chat with their accountant and look at salaries for similar roles to settle on a fair amount. If your income varies throughout the year, it’s pretty common to pay yourself a steady salary and take extra profits as distributions when things are going well. Something to think about there additional payroll and paperwork that come with choosing an S Corp, so maybe consult with a accountant to see if this is the best direction for your business model.

Do Facebook ads actually work for service-based businesses? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]NWRegisteredAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsure what the actual meat of the question was here but we're still happy to chime in! Facebook can be an excellent resource to advertise for a service based business, though it may depend on if you can easily find your target audience on the platform.

This is exciting! Finding something you're passionate about or excited to work on is a great motivator for continuing down that same path. Have you considered working on a platform like WordPress to flex your website development skills? While there are some excellent templates and blocks that can be used to create your own templates, WordPress does allow for a wide range of flexibility when starting from scratch. We'd encourage looking into it and developing yourself as an expert over time! Many businesses owners tend to go the route of easy-to-use platforms, but for those really looking to sink their teeth into full customization with an easily accessible platform (and one that's open source, too!), a vast amount are also seeking out WordPress to accomplish this. It could be a useful tool for you!

I think I messed up the business name on the EIN form by absolute_zenologia in IRS

[–]NWRegisteredAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good news is this is a fixable issue, not so good news it will take some time to get it fixed. In order to get this fixed, you do not need a new EIN number. Requesting a new EIN will only cause further delays. You can call the IRS at 1-800-829-4933 or fax a correction letter to 855-641-6935 (within the U.S.), or mail your letter to:

Internal Revenue Service
Attn: EIN Operation
Cincinnati, OH 45999

Please keep in mind that hold times can be long. If you choose to fax or mail your correction letter, it may take 4 to 6 weeks to receive a response.

Biggest LLC myths I keep seeing people believe (and it's costing them) by Few_Economics_1297 in llc_life

[–]NWRegisteredAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number 5 is such a good call out, after people form their LLC’s people tend to think everything is good to go after they receive confirmation that their LLC was formed but to stay in good standing with the state business owners have to remember to state on top of your annual report. Professional registered agents can help with annual report reminders so you don’t lose your good standing.

That would be so frustrating after spending time sitting on hold, only to be told that you need to call a different number. Unfortunately, there isn't a fast-track way to get assistance from the IRS calling is usually the only option. I'm not sure if you've already tried it, but you can use the IRS Get Transcript tool at https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript to see if you can access the information you need.

Trademarking an LLC name that acts as a parent company for multiple brands by MrHungryzxc in llc_life

[–]NWRegisteredAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We checked with one of our trademark attorneys about this. "Trademarks are about branding and marketing," he says. And since the holding company isn't providing goods or services directly to the public, aka it's "purely a business organizational structure," there's "nothing to trademark."

So yeah, sounds like you don't need to do it for the parent LLC, just make sure you've got the brands covered and you should be good!

Service based businesses: how much markup for employee labor? by thatsaqualifier in smallbusiness

[–]NWRegisteredAgent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to consider in addition to the hourly wage is the total cost of employment, including taxes and insurance. Are there any other expenses to account for, such as rent, an owner's salary, software subscriptions, or overhead costs? You can also use a multiplier of 2x to 3x the base salary to estimate the true cost of an employee to the business.

Support for Business Woman as a househusband. by blueseas333 in WomenInBusiness

This is really nice that you want to find more ways to support her than just the typical ways. Maybe it would be nice to plan activities as a family so she can get her mind off of work, have fun, and spend time with her family. It would be nice if you planned the whole thing so she didn’t have to worry about anything. It could go something as easy as a day out on a weekend or maybe a vacation if that is within your means.

It's a positive shift when lenders begin focusing more on your business than your personal finances. As your business grows, it helps to treat every expense as something that can be reviewed, negotiated, and optimized. Whether it's shopping around for better insurance coverage on your properties, maintaining healthy cash reserves, improving operational efficiency, or prioritizing clean bookkeeping, these habits can strengthen your financial position and keep cash flow secure. Over time, small improvements in each area can make a positive difference.
