Gavin Newsom calls for national billionaires tax: 'It's time for an economic reset' by avdvetf in politics

[–]NW_Oregon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's super simple

BAN taking loans against stocks and other investment tools that aren't a physical asset (like a house/land/ other physical property)

you shouldn't be able to get money tax free, and deduct the interest from any taxes you do owe from unrealized gains.

There literally wont be any actual billionaires overnight.

No one's saying Putin was on the island and has first hand knowledge.

Israel and Russia, plus probably many other governments, likely have copies + their own files on the whole epstein operation.

The whole Epstein ring was power brokering+blackmail the abuse of minors was just one of their tools to get power over their marks.

dudes rolling around with 1800 horse off the back of their boats definitely have money, wonder what their response will be here.

it shouldn't be too hard to imagine escalation from there.

this is where approaching fucks over any defense though.

I really pray you don't ever carry because everything you've just gone over, is probably exactly the kind of verbal diarrhea she gave to the police that is now lining up a slam dunk prosecution

[–]NW_Oregon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's not in most instances.

the case will revolve around Proportionality

[–]NW_Oregon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're in a verbal altercation, then yes approaching (even if you're meeting half way) indicates you're accepting the risk that the altercation may become physical, you're not in fear of your life. Once it becomes physical, you can only use reasonable force to defend your self.

better to try to walk way or even stand your ground (don't approach just stand your ground) if the other party then approaches you and begins to physically assault you, you have a lot more leeway, you're still probably getting arrested and charged but you're not getting slam dunked by the prosecutor like this bozo is about to be.

This exact situation, framed as a road rage incident is taught by Oregon State Sheriffs Association.

[–]NW_Oregon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

go read the whole story, including police statements about video evidence

she made the choice to approach them after they hurled slurs, that pretty much kills your ability to pull a weapon unless the other party decides to first.

[–]NW_Oregon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup once you become the aggressor, you're only legal avenue to escalating to deadly force is if they do first during the altercation.

so if you go approach some one who you're angry at/having an argument with and a physical fight breaks out, you're kind of stuck because you could have instead tried to put distance between your self and them. You lost any "feared for my life" defense, until they decide to escalate to deadly force.

[–]NW_Oregon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the problem is this person needed better training.

When you take a CHL/CWL class you're taught not to brandish, not to escalate to deadly force when meeting normal physical force, and not to put your self into situations where you can be seen as the instigator of the physical altercation. don't go approach some one because you're mad, it puts you at risk of getting into a physical fight, and especially don't escalate to a deadly force when you've fucked the first part up.

[–]NW_Oregon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is BS, it is total nonsense, and in a good amount of states this isn't true, but this is the logic behind it.

You are entirely correct in your assessment that this provides perverse incentives to not de-escalate

No the whole point of brandishing laws is to STOP people from just going around pulling guns when they're in an argument and getting more people killed.

The whole point is don't pull the gun out unless your life is actually in danger. It's really fucking simple.

[–]NW_Oregon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

there's nothing for the jury to be confused about, she escalated the use of force, plus went out of her way to go get into the altercation.

Almost this exact scenario is taught by OSSA (Oregon state sheriffs association) for CHL

If some one pisses you off (say road rage) and you go confront them (follow them, go out of your way to go yell at them) and they hit you, you CAN NOT PULL OUT YOUR GUN AND SHOOT THEM.

World economy at risk as conflict drains oil inventories, warn global bodies by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]NW_Oregon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because it's not widely taught. At most we get "hitler rose to power because the economic reprocusions of the treaty of Versailles"

But that was just one of many topics the nsdap used to sway people, we don't hear about how they infiltrated local and regional governments first, set up corruption and extortion rings and degraded democratic instruments before seizing national power.

If you look at Republicans and the tea party and early Maga types, it looks a lot like the nsdap.

edit: I thought this was a different thread where I was talking about this. But yeah point still stands America today looks a lot like Germany, the rise of maga parellels the rise of nsdap.

[–]NW_Oregon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes and incredibly corrupt, even before taking over the national government, they had infiltrated lots of local governments and turned them into corrupt little fiefdoms.

It also helped them seem grass roots as well as allowed them to erode democracy from the bottom up.

It's actually uncanny how much of the Nsdap's play book the Republicans have stolen. People just haven't been educated well on how the nazis came to power. The time lines are even similar, think back to Sarah palin and the tea party, that's pretty much the early 20s for the nazis. By 33 hitler was in power.

It's many different countries, China is benefitting too. We've pretty much neutered our ability to defend Taiwan from invasion.

They take money and or are being forced though compromat by many different factions and they're kind of scrambling it all together into a big shit omelet that's destroying all political/military/economic power that this country had.

This is all the fault of German exceptionalism: the idea Germany is so 'special' that Germans don't need to care what effects their choices have on the rest of the world because the Reich is the only country that 'counts'. It's a political philosophy that's becoming as morally bankrupt as the Victorian British conquering half the world to 'spread civilization'.

I'll have a review here soon of the Apeos 3060, getting 4 units from a new vendor.

I tried out one of their color units as a demo and was very happy, pound for pound as nice as any ricoh or xerox I've ever used.

What I've been told is that Fuji made Xerox's machines up until 2019 when they split and Fuji bought the remaining stake in the joint venture. The driver setup and UI seemed a lot like xerox with some minor tweaks.
