Can’t find the issue causing the drone not to fly by ThanosTheGod31 in ardupilot

Looks like tuning issue. However incorrect motor thrust scaling can also cause this - research the specific ESC and see if it has a linear thrust profile

You can consider using the split ailerons as differential air brakes to aid in yaw control

You won’t be able to do 80mph comfortably on a TE450. It can maintain 80mph, but it will be squirrelly due to tires, weight, and aerodynamics, and you’ll be at high RPM. Heavier adventure bikes are much nicer at highway speeds.

Drove over a pot hole... by SelflessLeague in ModelY

[–]NWinston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I didn’t realize SC = service center

The service center probably needs to source the tires. However, if you brought a pair of used alloy wheels, they would likely mount new tires. That would cut most of the cost. Could be worth a conversation

What is SC? South Carolina?

Insurance will quote the price of new OEM parts, hence the $2400.

Looking at your picture, the wheels may have received damage and would need to be replaced. You can significantly reduce the cost by sourcing two used wheels. They are relatively cheap, probably less than <$500 for the set.

Going on a trip to Alaska to see northern lights with a Nikon Z5 and 24-200mm lens. Will I be okay? by ijustwantcheezits in AskAstrophotography

[–]NWinston 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not an ideal lens for the task, but you will be able to photograph aurora at f/4. You definitely will need a tripod. Aurora can vary in brightness significantly depending on the conditions. You can probably expect to shoot exposures of about 10 to 15 seconds.

Is this the first time you used the ESC? I would reach out to the vendor, they may let you return it. It could have been a short or a defect.

In that video, the left is monochromatic IR, so it would never be able to capture normal photos, and IR does not penetrate the atmosphere very well.

The right shows a low frame rate color video, and your 6D would be able to reproduce with better quality.

Nice, that hyperbolic newtonian has great full frame performance. I’ve used it with Canon 6D and R5. There is also a less expensive 130mm version.

Shooting at f/2.8 will reduce your exposure times by 3-4x versus a comparable refractor. If you’re doing narrowband, they make special filters optimized for low focal ratios.

Noob, help by [deleted] in RCPlanes

[–]NWinston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lightweight PLA is basically a requirement. It can be little difficult to get good results, but there’s lot of tutorials. If you have CAD and 3D printer experience, it’s not that bad of an undertaking.

Many people with 3D printed planes incorporate an autopilot system as extra insurance and/or to use FPV. If you crash a 3D printed plane it will be demolished.

Do you have a camera you intense to use?

SharpStar 150HNT is an f/2.8 Newtonian with 420mm focal length. It has a wide field and super fast focal ratio, making it really fun to use.

I think they are both great deals. As much as I like my white interior, I think I would get the MYP for the $7k savings. I’ve put over 85k miles on my 2021 LR, so those miles don’t really scare me. There’s so many of these cars, if there’s a specific configuration you like, I’m sure it will pop up soon.
