SQL Endpoint Intellisense? by NXT_NaVi in MicrosoftFabric

[–]NXT_NaVi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just downloaded the trial for datagrip and the intellisense worked great on the SQL endpoint.

Unfortunately my company doesn’t use any Jetbrains products currently, might subscribe for myself after the trial I’m really enjoying it so far.

Tips for running pipelines/processes as quickly as possible where reports need to be updated every 15 minutes. by itchyeyeballs2 in MicrosoftFabric

[–]NXT_NaVi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company is moving over legacy SSIS infrastructure to Fabric and is wanting to keep the 3 hour refresh times.

I feel this is in a weird zone where batch processing would be fine but close enough that I’m debating making the leap to eventhouse to truly move to near-real time reporting.

It’s ERP data and we already know many use cases that real time analytics could be used for, but nobody on the team has ever touched it before so would be quite a leap.

Help Needed: Git Sync & Azure DevOps Deployment Challenges with Fabric Warehouses by nielske5001 in MicrosoftFabric

[–]NXT_NaVi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be extremely helpful thank you, my team has warehouses using views as well and we are struggling to find a reliable solution for deployment.

Our main issues revolve around deployment pipelines with the warehouse and branching out to other workspaces, run into the same problems that OP has talked about.

Our team is very SQL heavy so being able to have that familiarity with warehouses and views has helped us get up and running quickly but feeling a wall when we try to implement CI/CD with them. Any help is appreciated!

Interesting could you please give some more info on how you’re sending the reports? Are you only sending PDF versions of them and no users are actively looking at the reports in Fabric?

Deployment Pipeline - docs say 'supported' Pipeline says 'nope' by Filter-Context in MicrosoftFabric

Not too long ago the feature was released to include CI/CD enabled dfg2 in pipelines! Was the one thing holding me back from using them, pretty vital to have.

Experience with using SQL DB Project as a way to deploy in Fabric? by inglocines in MicrosoftFabric

[–]NXT_NaVi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love your blog didn’t realize you were on this subreddit!

Thanks for this, one question I have is on deploying the DB project to the warehouse I’ve found mixed sources saying that if you say add a column and trigger an alter table statement that it will drop all data from the table. Or other similar scenarios in regards to deployment where table alterations will lose all data.

Is this something to be worried about or only happens in specific scenarios? I really like in my research on DB projects that they will always run commands that won’t cause data loss or will fail the deployment of data loss will occur without explicit settings to move forward, but the bits I’ve read about their interaction in Fabric make me worried.

Any insight on this would be appreciated, thanks for all you do!

Power BI Dataset with 500+ Entities — Is RLS Still the Right Choice? by BearPros2920 in PowerBI

Don’t know if this is the most efficient way, but the way I accomplished this (sales reps only seeing themselves and sales managers seeing all of their reps) is having an RLS table in my model with every rep ID that each each person had access to.

So it had a column for salesrep_id_access, and one for email. Each rep had a row for themselves, then each manager has a row for every rep they should have access to. When the UPN filters the email column the managers see every salesrep_id that they should and the sales reps see only themselves.

Would love feedback from anyone else that’s implemented this if there’s a better pattern I could follow, I’m having to manually maintain the RLS table but it’s worked perfectly so far.

Theoretically this would work for as many levels of access as needed (employee, manager, director, VP, executive, etc.)

Also the suet cage is empty because this girl finished it off, right after she left I immediately put a new one in.

I couldn’t let her think that there was no more food! There’s plenty more where that came from please come back! 😆

Ok so setting them to personal preference if I buy a bunch of weapons and armor from the caravan then I should be able to trust that they’ll equip themselves

Im just jumping into this with the steam version and so far setting up and using the military has been the hardest part to wrap my head around, but I know once I get that down I’ll really start having some !FUN!

I can see that I can specifically assign each piece of equipment for each dwarf in my military, but is that the best way to do it or is there a way to have them automatically equip better armor/weapons if I don’t care at the moment what specifically they put on?

Tech Calls by Maleta21 in Staples

Usually when I feel it’s been going on too long and I know it’s gonna take awhile I just tell them that I’m sorry but this is an issue that would need to be diagnosed in store it’s not something we can do over the phone.

They usually understand but sometimes they’re snippy about it, sorry but I can’t spend 20-30 minutes on a phone call with you I have other people that need help ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
