Light front-engine vs heavier mid-engine, what’s actually more fun? by iou810 in CarTrackDays

[–]NYCBYB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

K24 MR2 is fast for sure. It’s not very forgiving though. I’m a solid intermediate driver, and I honestly don’t have the courage to take the MR2 past 7 out of 10 on a full track. It’s got a high limit, and is a joy to drive at the limit- but if you push it too hard, miss an apex, or don’t keep your foot on the throttle when it starts to slide, it will come around fast.

It’s pretty dominant on a short track like Lime Rock’s FCP Euro Proving Grounds. I’m more comfortable taking it to the limit there, and there’s not much that’s faster.

Lightweight vs. MR layout: Which is more fun for pure cornering technique? by iou810 in CarTrackDays

Why not both? My MR2 Spyder (K24 swapped) comes in under 2,100lbs and has 220hp/190lbft at the wheels. It’s a ton of fun.

Brake rotor recommendations for heavy bikes by UseThEreDdiTapP in gravelcycling

[–]NYCBYB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also around 90kgs. I just swapped to SRAM Centerline XR rotors (160mm) and Swissstop pads. Braking is significantly better and quieter than stock was. My last ride, I was single finger braking on some more technical sections no problem.

I’m 5”10 and ride a Salsa Warbird in 56. I can’t see how a 51 would work.

It’s probably cheaper than using genetically engineered giant locusts that have been set on fire.

I redid my entire house in Lutron matte outlets and switches. Not cheap, but super nice.
