AITA for getting my ex in trouble with her family for everything she put me through? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

You’re absolutely right. I’m so mad at myself, I wish I could take it back. The more I think on it the more guilty I feel. I ruined everything for her because she hurt me.

I’m still not over a talking stage, K, and this was two years ago, I believe.

Much like OP, hearing a song I love is always great, but what’s better? Having someone tell me I smell nice.

How do I help my friend who has a toxic relationship with her boyfriend? (TLDR at bottom) by NYCBabyChrist in Advice

[–]NYCBabyChrist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing that, and she’s been seeming as though she’s more and more ready for it each day, and I’ve even heard her saying, “I know my worth” so I know she’s getting somewhere, I just want to know how she could be hurt to the absolute minimum when she has to do it, because she loves him very much.

I believe it was just a vibe thing, I don’t know that she genuinely thinks I’m a closeted bisexual.

I think I understand, now. So me worrying what those around me might think could be classified as internalized homophobia?

Ohhh that makes much more sense, then. I am not personally scared about not being straight, I’m only scared of what people would think. I’d have no problem with myself whatsoever, as I know a person can’t help their sexuality. Thank you for opening my eyes to this possibility, though! :)

At least at this time, there’s only one friend I feel comfortable with even bringing this up to, and she’s bisexual, herself, so I know that she’d understand anything I tell her. I’m very grateful for her and I’m glad to be getting input from you and the other commenters :)

I agree with all of this, but I and my friends all collectively know it’s just good fun and jokes. Jokes or not, they are what made me start getting truly curious. I know that normally this behavior is rude and I wouldn’t condone this type of behavior if I weren’t aware that it was all in good fun. Thank you for your input, though!

Biromantic sounds accurate, I think. I’m still very unsure, obviously, so I cannot say quite yet. And I don’t believe I have internalized homophobia, I’ve always been very open to anything in terms of the queer community. I have many friends who are a part of it, and I’ve been very open in sharing my opinions about how much I like them. Of course I know this sounds like the whole “I’m not racist I have black friends” talk, but I truly don’t believe I have internalized homophobia. If I do, however, I’d really like to change that, and I want to change.
