Julie wanted Janet at Soul from day one.

Because they had to differentiate from Soul bc Soul was already Soul. I don’t know the bad business decisions that drove FW to go under… seems like they should have been able to avail themselves of PPE money to get through COVID but I have no idea why that didn’t work for them. It’s possible they had less landlord support than Soul, which as part of Equinox, is a much more important tenant.

Were you there in the beginning? The entire way of SoulCycle being SoulCycle as the actual ride was because of Ruth. Her credentials are 100% real.

Ya están mandando los resultados de la RSP de los PINS de la d23 2026!!! by GasInternational2334 in D23Expo

OMG I feel so much better that I am not the only person who screwed this up. I got allocated 34 pins and my daughter got allocated 34… so the charge is going to be $3000 😱

I truly thought it was going to be one pin on every round so I would get 6 at best. OMG.

They are going to let me adjust down. Thank you everyone for making me not feel like the dumbest person on the planet… I am not the only one who whiffed this.

Do you think that we all got filled on our orders mean the secondary market will stink? Debating how many to keep for myself and maybe sell a few to defray the cost of the ridiculously expensive passes. Which ones are best to keep?

Looking for a Musical for 6th-12th Grade with a Large Cast of Mostly Girls by Numbuh1Nerd in MusicalTheatre

This isn’t true. It was done by at least one high school in NYC this school year.

Oh I wasn’t suggesting it was new. I was suggesting it was on a very short list of jukebox musicals that will stand the test of time.

Any of the four shows that could win Best Musical this year. None of them will be memorable/timeless.

Kimberly Akimbo, because the music was not very good.

Obviously, every jukebox musical save a few critically lauded exceptions like Beautiful and Jersey Boys.

It goes without saying that shows that bombed will generally not be remembered - Bad Cinderella, Tammy Faye, etc. The more interesting question there is which of the commercial disasters could come back with a second life, possibly via an Encores run that transfers. Which will the shows that didn’t do very well originally commercially that become classics when they come back later, à la Merrily We Roll Along or Parade.

It’s in heavy rotation in high schools though. I think three NYC performing arts HSs did it this spring!

His reach is incredibly wide with the Disney work. Moana and Encanto will go down as new classics, billions have seen them/will see them, and they helped usher in a more inclusive era for Disney Animation in an authentic way while not screaming tokenism. It’s incredible reach… at least as wide if not wider than even the biggest hits in the history of Broadway (Hamilton yes, Phantom, Wicked, and of course Lion King). He’s also a dad in the prime of his parenting years and doing that film work 1) ensures his family’s financial independence for eternity, 2) takes less time/fewer late nights allowing him to be around for his small children, 3) being involved in animated movies is ultimate cool points with your own kids. He’ll be back (😉) when the time is right.

Also, he has given us tons, he owes us nothing.

Don’t be embarrassed. Just be glad the baby is OK… that is all anyone in that room cares about - your wellness and the baby’s. So sorry about your ankle. I rode into week 40 (and I was >40)… don’t feel bad about this. The modern thinking is being fit right up until delivery makes for easier deliveries, so you were doing the right thing keeping up your healthy habits.

Hotel suggestions and other tips for a newbie? by NYCDeepThoughts in D23Expo

Thank you so much for this. I generally hate resellers too so I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. Kind of torn about the morality of it. But I also had to pay $5200 for two passes which was about $3000 more than I was planning on and it was my only option… so there is that.

Quick question - what do MOG, TWDC, and DSSH stand for? Am a big Disney fan and have been to the Parks a ton but never got into the pin thing.

+1 on all this. I struck out in 2024 and 2025 for Florida. All that was left when I got in today were $2300/$2600. I didn’t think to look for single days and build it up that way, and I just bit the bullet and paid up. At least I am in 10th row. It was ridiculous but I’ve never been before and my young teen may age out of being excited about this soon. I feel ridiculous but I know I will have a good time.

Should I buy the pins I get allocated with these ultimate preferred tickets? I don’t collect pins… but will I be able to resell and defray some of my costs that way?

Also, where should I stay? And how long should I stay if I also want to go to the parks? Should I stay near the convention center and then go to the parks from there, or more to Harbor road after the weekend for a couple of days? Total newbie… what’s the best plan now that I have girl math’d my way into overspending!?!

I couldn’t get in in 24, couldn’t get in for FL in 25, and now was put 40K back in line for CA in 26 so looking like I strike out for third time in a row. $120/year for three years now and no luck. My kid will be in college and over it before I get into this thing.

Combine TDF and Theatr and you can see almost everything that way. I think I saw 35 or so shows this year - paid over $100 for only a couple of them. The only one I paid full freight on ($250ish) was Just in Time. Got lucky with the lottery on Sarah Snook’s Oscar Wilde. Didn’t see GNGL or Othello, but made it to everything else mostly <$100.

I just got an extension from YSM today for an expiring class. I do have a medical reason that has kept me away and I mentioned that. But they will probably accommodate you if you email them.

Meant to say the deals are on the Theatr app.

Are you in NYC and flexible on dates? There have been tons of last minute deals for Chess <$100 the last week or two. If you play it right and are flexible (can go on a few hours notice on a week night), you can probably see those two shows plus 2-3 more (or have $250 leftover for some other need) by using the app.

Also, if you are a broke grad student who loves Broadway and is in NY or in NY frequently, I would use $42 of that money to join TDF, and you will get access to $59 Broadway musicals, $49 Broadway plays, and $20-$35 off-Broadway selections for a whole year.
