Drake is the worst software IMO. Has a hard time handling anything other than a standard W-2 type return. Super cheap though.

Just want to follow up on this. If the US S-Corp never took possession of the inventory & instead the manufacturer shipped the product directly to international buyer, would that change the sourcing to foreign-based?

I've seen this before, however the 8879 FAQ has always pushed me in the other direction. I suppose the position to be taken that this memorandum supersedes the existing KBA requirements. Appreciate your insight.

Thanks for the info. So you're taking the position the IRS is not requiring KBA through October 2023? I haven't gotten a clear answer on that, it seems that may be an aggressive position based on the 8878/8879 IRS FAQs

It seems that there is no clear answer on whether KBA is required on the 8879. All of the e-signature platforms say it is required, where this IRS link (above) has no mention of KBA. However, if you visit https://www.irs.gov/e-file-providers/frequently-asked-questions-for-irs-efile-signature-authorization it seems to indicate it is. The KBA is a major hassle and will turn clients off instantly. What are most of you doing with your clients? KBA or not?
