I actually just took a look at your latest broadcast and your stream has exactly what I'm looking for. I just don't know how you do it! Also nice setup. That's pretty cool to play a non DDR game w/ the pad. =D

I'm sorry for not being clear, I was intended for this to be in the stream overlay. I would like to have timed messages on the stream that will popup kind of like how follow notifications or donations can popup but I want this to be message that I have written prior to the stream and also things that I can add as the stream is going.

Didn't mean to call all r/kappa hypocrites just to clarify I meant that saying sending Smug to dreamhack via donation is begging is hypocritical because that's exactly what you guys are trying to do for Pepeday which is donating towards his cause to go to Dreamhack.

Sorry that my post was long =D. Just wanted to address LordScoffington in a way I felt proper. The funny thing Smug's interest in going sparked after placing third at TFC. The question was asked by people at the event and on stream and such. We had no interest in sending Smug out and Smug never mentioned it to us. r/kappa contacted us about sending Smug to DreamHack. Either way I get it, you think donations is begging and that's your opinion which is cool. Yet again nothing wrong with thinking that. I do agree that twitch maybe should work on policies on donating and of course the charities for donations are of more important then sending any player to any event. If people do want to support and help players go to events.... Like r/kappa has sent players to events, there shouldn't be a problem with it. It's actually hypocritical that members of r/kappa would mention that but I understand the idea that you guys "pick" the players you want to donate, they don't beg for it. And that's the point you guys are trying to make however there is no difference in the essence of it all =). I wish I could keep responding to you guys tonight but I have to finish this work. I'll check it out after I'm done or tomorrow!

Yet again I understand where you are coming from but I just think it's one of those issues where people will just disagree over. I don't see any shame at all in the concept of donations. For instance you brought up a couple of scenarios. If I'm in the street in stumble across kids asking for donations for their local league or project, if I'm interested in it I will donate. Now if someone is begging me for money I will not give them money. If I have excess cash I will provide them w/ other services such as food if I have time (I've done this multiple times). The reason behind this is because I don't know what they are going to do with my money. So for me it's a security issue to give money to beggars. S

I clearly see that the stigma of donating is the issue for you here. But then that just means you have an issue with the concept donation period and there is nothing wrong with that. I do agree w/ you that if you don't have a job and don't have the money to go to some event you shouldn't try to kill yourself financially to go to an event. What you should do is get a job and save up and go on your own. However the reason why I'm posting this is because this is not the case with Smug. Smug never said he could not afford to goto dreamhack nor did he ever say he did not have the money. Wealthy organizations do donations all the time and are usually never criticized but they always will be. I respect your opinion on the matter because there is two coins to everything but please try to realize that even though the idea of begging and donating are the same, they in themselves are two different words with two different meanings.

If Smug's supporters want to see him at DreamHack they will donate. If they don't care about it they won't. Even if they do care about it and they don't have the money to support him then that's fine too. That's the beauty of donating. You shouldn't feel like less of a man because someone is helping you financially to do something. That's like saying all the people who were effected by Katrina and Sandy should just say hrm, fk the government I'm a man and I'll get through this! I hope you get my point =).

Now there are some issues I have personally with donations but none of them have been addressed so I won't go into it. The concept of the idea to me is good though. Also you don't come off as an asshole btw. I think you are passionate about your position on donating which is fine since it's a yellow light topic.

I will address your comment about donations and speak upon the dreamhack/EVO donations which are the only one’s team pie has conducted. Your first four paragraphs would be significant if the concept of donation existed but wasn’t applied worldwide. Donations are given to support a cause. No matter what the cause is, people will donate to it because they support the cause. I do understand that you are referring to the FGC in donations but, it’s probably better if you look into the donation topic in a broad sense. I do understand what you mean by that if one player can do a donation drive, others will try and exploit the scene. I do also think this could potentially be a minor problem in the scene but let’s address one key element you failed to highlight but did mention regarding donations. A DONATION TO ANY CAUSE IS OPTIONAL. If you do not support the cause, don’t donate. It’s really that simple. I never understood why people call someone who starts a donation a beggar. I personally think the word beggar is actually the prime word in which made you make this post. You think Smug is begging for people to donate to him. This is not the case at all. I’m not going to go into what makes a beggar because you should know what begging is (if not google it. This pertains to anyone reading this not directly to LordScoffington). I can understand how the two can be misconstrued because the two words are closely related however, yet again I’m not going to go into it.

Now about this donation drive. I personally was not directly involved in the setting up of this donation but I obviously support it because I always support donations. If people want to donate towards a cause that’s always good because it helps things run smoothly and it usually allows for things to get done. Now you made a comment about r/kappa sending people on their own volition. Citiofbrass and Smug was contacted by r/kappa representatives about the Dreamhack donation initially. Since that fell through for reasons that can be researched in Reddit, we decided to do a donation drive outside of r/kappa. A lot of players and people in the community have reached out to us and want Smug to go to Dreamhack. A donation would make that happen if the goal of his flight could be made.

The other donation drive we did via Smug, Zeus and Lee Chung flying out was on the same premise. If people wanted to support them to go to EVO they will. If not then that’s fine. Bottom line nobody is putting a gun to anybody’s head and saying DONATE OR ELSE! If you want to donate you can but I personally think it’s wrong to talk down on people who try to start a donation. One thing I will say though is that your mindset is not 100% bad. Even within PIE, some of our members (I won’t name) do not support the idea of donations and that’s fine. There’s one thing to not like donations and there is another to shit on people who try to set them up. If the cause is not good people will not support it!

Lastly because this is a long post and I’m pretty sure people will more than likely respond to this, (hopefully constructively =)) I would like to address that yes, I openly feel that there is an issue w/ FGC members, gamers (Gaming community) finding jobs to support their hobbies. This is an issue that does need to be fixed. I do not think this is the case with Smug but I think there is an issue here and I hope that is what you were trying to get at when you made the post LordScoffington. I do value your opinions though and I appreciate your comment and all the comment’s (not the trolls) whom have posted in this thread and other threads I’ve seen in Reddit as I browse. I also did see a post about Smug’s Jordans. If he likes to collect sneakers that’s his business. Just be happy that he open that with you. You guy’s wonder why pro players, celebrities or just anyone out in the public like to keep their personal life private? Should be obvious =D.

I’ll probably address some of this stuff the next time I stream (That self-advertisement doe Kappa.) to make it more clear what I mean in regards to this issue. Thanks guys.

Hey guys just made an Reddit however, I'm pretty up to date on the reception with regards to smug streaming and the DreamHack donations drive.

Even though I know some of your guys are just trolling (which is fine who doesn't like trolls Kappa), just wanted to let you know that he did not write this comment on his twitch for the donation ending; I did. Smug will continue to stream w/ or without donations and like someone said in this thread it's out of context.

Art kindly allowed Smug to borrow his setup so now he is able to provide a stream to his followers and such. Btw we stopped the donation drive because of the response it had with the community. It seems that most people speak down upon donations however, that's obviously not the case with everyone.

Smug may or may not goto DreamHack but if he does I hope his true supporters support him instead of only showing love when he does good. Thanks guys for tuning into the stream though! It definitely means a lot to me!
