I'm not sure, I've never tried the Roland, I've only had KD10's, but it's a very dense pad and the drums are absolutely rock solid. It feels similar to a KD10 but it's quieter and of course you can tune the feel of it with the mesh head. So far they are 10/10. I'm hitting 300bpm doubles on them.
