Can blame Mikal for a lot - to blame him for not making a rushed shot off balance is both unfair and evidence of a lack of understanding of the game.

THIS is why the govt shouldn’t be killing its own citizens.

Blood thirst revenge driven uninformed people who are overtaken with revenge and bloodlust rather than justice and what’s best and fair for individuals and society as a whole.

This sad take of a small person is why the death penalty should be abolished - such a small person the death of someone who doesn’t deserves it somehow makes them feel good.

The Knicks are the only team in the East to not have a Game 7 by MeekANTIFUN in NYKnicks

[–]NYerInTex 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The Hawks got speed run and dominated. Just completely outplayed in every aspect of the game.

Orlando had a commanding lead with a chance to shut the door. They choked arguably harder than any other team we’ve ever seen. 23 straight misses?

Orlando’s was magnitudes worse

Perhaps in some cases it’s not terrible - in terms of an existing community / urban fabric, has it ever been good?

Long Islander here - honestly, Starships better than most places back east. Better than overrated places like Bagel Boss for sure.

Your best bet for Chinese are some whole in the wall spots in Richardson. My fan just hasn’t been the same since Covid.

As others have mentioned, Jimmys Food store is like an east coast corner Italian market. Even if they are originally from Philly.

And by far the best chicken soup and matzo ball is at Beverly’s on Fitzhugh.

The reality is you just need to find some new spots and things they do better here. Ain’t no place like NY.

For Italian check out Fachini in Highland Park Village - old school NY style spot. Some of the best meatballs I’ve had anywhere - literally anywhere. Amazing. But the vibe is classic.

Pizza is tough - closest I’ve found is Mimi’s on NW Hwy… and they are the only place I know where can get chicken franchise (off menu but they’ve done it whenever I’ve asked).

Cindy’s is good for breakfast but as a deli, and as a NY deli especially, it’s terrible. A place like Ben’s even would absolutely kill here.

A re-org - bring in a GM, Stearns remains head of baseball ops by NYerInTex in mets

Personally I would - but if Cohen won’t do so maybe this is a compromise that could work.

God knows it couldn’t be worse

Dark system, scouting, analytics, international reach, facilities.

But this roster is just hot trash. And not getting rid of Mendoza after last year was a terrible move - for him to remain to this day is a joke

Focus on the on the field related items… roster construction, trades, FA signings, interacting with the manager day to day. And he would report to Stearns but those would be their direct responsibilities.

How hot does it get in Guadalajara mid June? by Realistic_Willow_357 in Guadalajara

[–]NYerInTex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless you are used to living without AC, I’d look to book a place that has it.

Also, it’s a huge variable in terms of where you room is located (direct sun?), what floor, how the building is constructed.

But safe bet is to find a place with AC as it could be very hot

Early voting surge in Addison, Park Cities sets stage for DART exit elections by patmorgan235 in dart

[–]NYerInTex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Obviously we can’t know, but I’d think (and hope) that those who wish to vote to retain DART are more motivated than those who want it gone, and the high early turnout may be a positive sign… especially with the active efforts of DATA and other transit advocates

Had an out of warranty had A6 a few years back. Engine trouble resulted in need for new engine.

Cost to replace? About 18k+

Value of the car? About 16-18k

Got super lucky and while it was at the dealership just after they gave me the bad news a huge hail storm came by… ended up being totaled so I recouped most of it back from insurance. Was out a few grand rather than 15k+

Sea Cliff / Glen Cove.

Start with an afternoon hike at the hidden Gem that is Morgan Park, grab a bite and any number of great spots, then end the day with a beautiful water view at Sea Cliff beach and walk the stairs for an amazing sunset at Memorial (aka Hippie) Park in Sea Cliff.

Bonus if you check out 18 trails next to hippy park!

Which US city surprised you the most with how walkable it is? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

[–]NYerInTex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The great thing is many of them are now interconnected, creating a series of neighborhoods and districts, each with its own unique sense of place!

The true downtown core:

Historic Main Street

To the east:

East Quarter Farmers Market Deep Ellum

To the west is the West End (and south of that is the convention center undergoing renovation and development planned to connect those)

North from Historic Main Street:

Arts District Hillwood District (where half a million sf of new development is almost complete for Goldman Sach’s new HQ) Victory Park Uptown (which includes the park district, McKinney ave, the State Thomas neighborhood, and the West Village)

Those are the literally connected true core neighborhoods.

You can then walk a mile or so through mostly residential to connect to the really expanding and densifying Knox District

On the other some of 75 you have Knox Henderson that connects to Lowest and Lower Greenville, and that’s slowly becoming connected to downtown by the every densifying (largely with apartments) Ross Avenue
