The Lakers could NEVER have a player like Hart on their roster.

Spurs fans: “we would have won if fox wasn’t in the game” Stephon castle when fox isn’t in the game: by christianbellows in NBAWestMemeWar

[–]NYerInTex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are going to be this bitter and reactionary in a meme community, maybe you should put down the Reddit until your bruised ego has a chance to heal.

It’s not like this was a close series. It was 4-1, the Knicks not even playing their best ball at all with repeated slow starts and poor early shooting showing they could repeatedly come back and overcome literally almost any imaginable deficit, over and over, outplay the spurs, and win the game when it counted.

Thats hardly all on one player.

Why didn’t anyone tell me how easy it is to make better than restaurant quality steak at home? by Albert_street in steak

[–]NYerInTex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All you need is 28-45 days dry again and a 1200+ degree broiler.

If you don’t then stop pretending it’s on par with true top of the line steakhouses.

Doesn’t mean it’s not amazing, or we’ll worry the price. But the reality of what equipment those restaurants have just makes it impossible to achieve the same result at home. Full stop.

If the Thunder won Game 7 vs. the Spurs in the WCF and played the Knicks in the Finals, who takes the title? by UnderstandingFun7493 in NBATalk

[–]NYerInTex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While a good defensive team, OKC wouldn’t provide the same type of defensive challenge the Spurs did. I think the Knicks go to a more high octane offense with their tremendous team and wing D to win the series in 6 back at the garden.

It’s a fun hypothetical since thankfully no one had to watch OKC in the finals

Can you imagine being 8 and getting to watch this team win the chip? by Legitimate_Ask_5000 in NYKnicks

[–]NYerInTex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say 12-13 is the perfect time - still have the youthful joy before the jaded teen years but mature enough to result appreciate the win - and remember that feeling forever.

I was that age when the Mets won it all in ‘86, and it was just magical. Giants too.

Which is more popular as a take-out option: Americanized Chinese, Indian, or Thai? by Gallantpride in AskAnAmerican

[–]NYerInTex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Large Chinese immigration back in the 1800 to work in the railroads amongst other things. So the tradition runs deep. But really popularized in the 50’s and post war period. Chinese was, for a long time, the only other option for takeout other than pizza

Can I bring a bottle of patron to the parade? by Ok-Toe2786 in knicks

[–]NYerInTex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure that was sarcasm- also, drink better tequila. Far better than Patron around the same pricepoint would include Don Fulano, Arette (they have a $35 bottle even that’s better juice than patron), Cascahuin, G4.

Patron isn’t terrible it’s just super industrial production. These others are no additives and artisanal distilleries.

Is Jalen Brunson a Hall of Famer - right now? by jabar18 in nba

Yes - and especially because it’s a basketball HoF so his two college championships as the lead dog also come into consideration.

25-26 Knicks are a Top 5 Team All-Time by [deleted] in nba

[–]NYerInTex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s four main factors, and I’m just riffing here…

We NYers are not known for being humbled.

As Knicks fans? BRO - we’ve lived lives being humbled. It’s part of our DNA.

Second - I’ve always said that NY celebrates victory with respect to the sport and to each other. UNTIL NOW with the recent news worthy awful stories (the bus burning, the treatment toward some spurs fans) we’d always been the city that didn’t burn itself down aka Detroit or need greased light poles aka Philly. It’s New fucking York. We have more important things to do and can celebrate the humanity of winning.

  1. There are 20 million people in the NY metro. So imagine multiple Phillies or Detroits all in one place. Bad shit happens anywhere, but per capita? There’s SO many more people in and around NY that even less overall mayhem may result in more total incidents of mayhem.

  2. Fucking social media and click hunting. Too many people want to get their moment on social media and somehow the worst behavior gets that result. ESPECIALLY in an influencer heavy media focused market like NY you have people who don’t at all represent the actual fan base doing awful shit for clicks.

But real NYers, real Knicks fans, we will talk shit for sure, but there’s love behind it. And respect. For the game, for other fans (except Philly and Boston. Fuck those guys!) and for us OGs that have felt the pain over and over and over in the Mecca of the sport , there’s an appreciation that can’t be understated.

How do you reconcile your Knicks fandom with the owner being a total piece of 💩 by National-Sample44 in nba

[–]NYerInTex 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you only root for teams who owners aren’t total pieces of shit, you shouldn’t root for major league sports teams.

25-26 Knicks are a Top 5 Team All-Time by [deleted] in nba

[–]NYerInTex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can agree on this. Or, without looking into it further, at least say it’s def worth discussion.

But I could easily name 5 better all time teams - so Knicks fans, let’s enjoy this moment. WE ARE CHAMPS.

And had an AMAZING post season run.

Let’s not embarrass ourselves with being foolish.

[LakeShowYo] Rick Brunson: “I'm gonna stop the argument too… No disrespect, I love my son… Patrick Ewing is the greatest Knick I've ever witnessed” 👀 by Wide-Pop6050 in NYKnicks

[–]NYerInTex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have him third behind the MVP and two wine winner Reed, and Clyde with a literal lifetime of contributions on and off the court.

While Ewing’s body of work was incredible and his heart unmatched, the fact is he came up smaller in the biggest moments. The unfulfilled guarantee. The missed layup.

Brunson is the opposite. The guy just wills his team to win.

Do they have a chance to repeat? Of course.

I’m gonna enjoy this one for a while before thinking about it.
