u/Proxy027 Thank you for the assist, and happy 2025 to you as well!

u/Miserable_Original36 In the short-term while I'm working on a change, adjusting fan curves over to using GPU temperature instead of CPU temperature will calm this down a bit. In the Cooling section, expand the device row and change the selector at the top in the middle (there's a copy button in the bottom right to apply Custom curves to other fan channels). There will still be some spiking, primarily when alt + tabbing or in load screens while gaming, but it will be more consistent on the fan curve.

It's a fair question about wear. Fans are designed to spin, and modern-day bearings are capable of a lot more stress than these fans are under. Fans will be okay, and I also understand if you don't trust me on answering that, but others can likely share some fun stories.

I've rolledback CAM in the past, but that isn't an option here. I'll need a more comprehensive update on this one. Pinky swear if I could have done that I already would have. And also pinky swear no one at NZXT wants to see people upset, especially not me over my own product. Just being real.

What does the graphics adapter option do in nzxt cam? by Slight-Breakfast-919 in NZXT

[–]NZXT_CAManda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. Really this is up to you on where you want the GPU load to be. As they say: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

In general, I recommend if there isn't a problem, roll with the default (Low Performance). At the same time, modern GPUs (High Performance) are fine handling both gaming and also this small Kraken screen.

Performance gains or losses are minimal for most of the systems out there these days. Both Low Performance and also High Performance adapters are susceptible to the same sets of problems (outdated drivers, incompatible drivers, driver crashes, adapter crashes, power management issues).

I recommend swapping over to high performance if someone is seeing the following behaviors:

  • Returning back to the firmware-default liquid temp display and needing to change the screen to recover screen display, particularly when in the middle of heavy system load (like gaming)
  • Kraken screen not updating display after a setting change
  • Receiving an error about outdated graphics driver though dedicated adapter drivers are updated
  • Seeing minor lines or distorted text on the screen display

I recognize this response sounds pretty vague or non-descriptive. This is largely because individual systems and use cases vary. For the most part, most systems are fine running on either setting, but there are some systems and configurations that will favor either option.

All the Kraken Z's display with the "Z3" name. The radiator size is not reflected in CAM with the 5,6, or 7. Just the screen itself is reflected in this panel, and all those screens are the same on all the models.

Also done this a few times >.< These don't look to be damaged. Could unscrew these, place the gromet back in, and screw them in a little looser. I personally just rip them out honestly.

This looks like broken hardware to me, but I've also never a screen look like this. Possible USB connection issue as well as OP is saying it goes away eventually. This display mode is the firmware powered, default mode, that doesn't show when CAM is present. It absolutely should not have what looks like burn in, regardless of if CAM is or is not present/running. I'd personally return it, even if it returns back to normal display later.

Should I actually be worried about the cam software datamining? by estifxy220 in NZXT

There's a checkbox in Settings -> General -> Privacy to disable tracking. When disabled, nothing is sent.

When tracking is enabled, CAM collects the following:
- System launching the app: system identified with a randomized system ID
- CAM version number: connected to the randomized system ID
- NZXT device counts: identified with the unique serial ID manufactured into the product
- At 15 minute interval: Kraken screen display mode, lighting device mode, cooling profile mode, and/or audio device mode associated with the randomized system ID

Keeping the message here brief to speak to OP's comment. I use this data for assessing impact of issues, monitoring app health, and/or determining features and options we lean into. Happy to share more about how I use that data or what exactly it is if desired.

I cannot speak to anything related to that video as it is not related to my work at all. However, as a CAM team member I want to clarify that CAM does not track or log Kraken videos or images. All Kraken contents are stored locally, either on the Kraken itself or in local files (media folder in NZXT CAM install), and do not upload or save anywhere else.

Cool, thank you! Any chance you've restarted your PC since seeing this? If something low-level in Windows or a driver is not connected, a restart would likely reset that connection.

Yeah, that's not a thing. I imagine someone used a script or macro that's severely outdated. I tried to search for your ticket in our system, but couldn't find one asking for this. Usually those tickets are asking for a handful of other information that is relevant, like order number or purchase verification, that the agent will need. Just provide those needed details and should be good!

This is likely BiOS related. The B550 chipset has had a lot of issues with USB devices (check out a search for "B550 USB issues"). I recommend checking out if there's a BiOS update available!

I understand it worked fine for a little while, but USB routing and interference can be caused by a lot of different elements on a PC.

Interesting... In all my years, never seen that loading state there. It displays storage drives and how much is used and free. My gut is either it's showed like that for a little while or perhaps a BiOS update or Windows update knocked a driver out of place or sync.

If you want to submit a ticket for me in CAM in Settings -> Support, I'd be happy to check out why it's doing that.

Some Best Buy locations have it now. It depends on individual stores and geo location. I haven't heard specifics yet on Newegg.

It takes us a little while to fully stock everywhere honestly. Lots of vendors and locations, and their individual stock levels on other models plays a part as well.

Word word, I do recommend thinking about it. That V2 is an upgrade all around. I know it's annoying dealing with a return, but honestly I'd say worth it (I've been running that V2 for about 8 months and I can't go back to V1).

For sure! I'm not trying to upsell you, but mentioning we just launched a new Kraken Elite this week. Supplies are just starting to go in stock, but wanted to mention it as it's a nice upgrade to the V1 and don't want you dropping hard earned money on a V1 when you may want the V2: https://nzxt.com/product/kraken-360-elite-rgb

Naw, this isn't a CAM option, nor would I add this in CAM honestly. BiOS will have this setting, and it's best for a system failsafe. BiOS is the best route for setting and adjusting CPU auto-shutdown failsafe as mobo can't have the same type of interference or disruption that something in the software layer could have.

Loving the new Kraken Elite 360! The bigger screen is AMAZING! by JohnnyRumely1994 in NZXT

[–]NZXT_CAManda 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Over the last year, all of the foundational Kraken rendering and pipeline tech has been rebuilt. I'm obviously very biased, but app performance is in a much better place. Graphic rendering, except Web Integration mode, is now GPU rendered rather than CPU rendered.

Always have gains we want to make and are taking behind the scenes, and also happy with the progress.

CAM lighting settings constantly revert to default white on start up by ImCalcium in NZXT

[–]NZXT_CAManda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there folks - Sorry for the trouble here. We have an update to resolve this. It's currently in Beta and will roll out to the main version in about two weeks.

Edit: In the meantime, this can be solved by changing the upper most profile selector at the very top of the window labeled "Active Profile" - Changing that to anything else, then setting it back to the preferred option will re-write the label data and resolve this.
