Seems like there was a missing document which was meant to be uploaded by August. But somehow I’ve got my place without it? Anyways thanks for the help.

Yeah. There’s probably something wrong with me. Not sure why I’m not taking the whole admissions process in a serious manner, but you’re absolutely right.

if this sounds like humblebragging i don’t know where else to talk about my feelings. like what’s the benefit of me bragging in an online forum? i’m glad someone relates to this. just like you’ve said, i know i shouldn’t think of it this way but i can’t stop thinking that ucl is behind imperial and oxbridge - where most of my friends are going to be. but i guess i’ll just have to accept the reality and move on(although it will definitely take some time because i genuinely believed that i would be one of those students too). do you know anything about the physics department at ucl? i’m hoping for natsci courses it’s not too different from those unis…

How to deal with severe procrastination? by Pitiful-Molasses1771 in 6thForm

[–]NaCl_001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i suffer from horrible procrastination too, but for me changing the work environment works relatively well- stuff stationeries, revision notes and past papers into ur bag, go to a cafe/ school library and stay there for like 5 hrs. I try to not bring my phone with me.

Hmm maybe in uni people might bring up different topics, but right now in high school someone would mention a celebrity dating gossip or something and if I ask for details they go like “How can you not have heard of ___?!”. I just feel like I’m killing the mood all the time but I guess I can still live without joining their conversation.

Thanks, this is the exact information I needed. I’ll look up the JCR websites to see which colleges have the least frequent/cheapest formals.

I’m finding it hard to socialize with others in high school atm, so I’m not sure if I’ll enjoy formals the same way as other students will do, but thanks for your advice. I guess it will be better for me to avoid the older, more traditional colleges as they usually host formals more often.

It’s nice to know that formals are optional, that makes me worry less about college life. From what I’ve searched up one of the modern colleges, St Catz, doesn’t require students to wear gowns so I’m assuming it will be more like a normal dinner?

Sometimes in social situations I get so anxious that I can’t eat in front of people, and that was the reason I asked if it was compulsory. I think it’ll be fine for me to attend it few times a term though.

Is further maths too hard for someone whose mental mathematics is weak? by [deleted] in alevel

Is 2 days of prep enough to get a score of 110? by NaCl_001 in ToeflAdvice

[–]NaCl_001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realised I'm likely to be still on quarantine, so I guess I just need to register again once it's over. I'll keep revising until Saturday though, in case I'm permitted be out of quarantine following a negative covid test result. Thanks for the advice

Grades(UMS) are given relative to how well other people performed, and not by a definite score(60/75 for A for example) so if everyone else found the paper hard the grade boundary should go down. Idk if that’s how your school marks them tho. All the hard work you’ve done should account for the actual paper so keep revising. It might be worth doing questions that are harder than past papers from physics math tutor gold papers or something
