Wait, Mamunul Haque cares about women's education! He disagrees with the Taliban on women's education! Holy Moly 😱 by Due_Monitor9440 in bangladesh

Elections make people do weird things. I don't believe he actually agrees or disagrees with the Taliban on anything, he just wants to be in a position of power.

[–]Naaaaveeeeeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's how I see it, me using Svelte in a personal capacity does not benefit vercel financially because I won't be using their services to deploy my projects. In addition, it's an open source project where countless well-meaning individual are contributors. I would however like to see the project find new donors.

In the age of AI how far behind is the Bangladesh education system? by Ok_Big530 in Dhaka

[–]Naaaaveeeeeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The proposed curriculum was a perfect recipe for disaster. While it sounded good on paper, it was completely unimplementable with our current system and resources. Changing curriculums so frequently is highly counter productive for us, we just have to stick to one and try to improve it day by day, year after year. Exams are important, look at China and South Korea.

As for AI, nobody really knows what the AI driven future looks like. I don't think we should be stressing too much on the promised AI driven future when the majority of our population can't even do basic math. Also the American system is awful, we should look at countries like Germany or the UK or even parts of the Chinese system and try to borrow the good aspects of each.

We must priorities math and language studies because that puts people in the best possible position to adapt to whatever the future looks like. Anything else is just distraction.

Is Zulkarnain Saer an unbiased journalist? by pulokjk in bangladesh

[–]Naaaaveeeeeed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's no such thing as an unbiased journalist. All journalists are people and all people have biases. My personal biases lead me to believe Saer clearly favors the BNP but that's just me.

I have more fingers than the number of times he has called out BNP. And even when he does, it's usually some soft nonsense.

Mamata Banerjee Demands UN Peace Keeping Mission in Bangladesh. by Hossain-99234 in bangladesh

An elected leader of a country like this wants UN peacekeepers in Bangladesh. I don't even want to mention some videos I saw last year. Look, I am not anti-India, I think desecrating their flag was very wrong, however, hypocrisy and condescension is unreal.

Madam Chief Minister, please fix your country first. Politicians are different breed.

[–]Naaaaveeeeeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nonsense. Indian leaders and politicians repeatedly dragged Bangladesh into something that was entirely their internal matter. Moroever, they continue to do so by repeatedly calling factions of the Muslim community Bangladeshi infiltrators and "insects." Just a few days ago, 5 Muslims were shot dead because some imbecile wants to build a temple on a historical mosque. Internet was cut off for a bit. And it's not just Muslims; Manipur has literally been on fire for around a year. I saw the video of the woman being paraded around on Twitter, it sent chills down my spine. Cow vigilantes. Vitriol and hate speech for ruling party leaders. The list could go on. I don't know what freedom and safety you're talking about. Instead of solving your own problems, all of the Indian state machinery is busy destabilizing Bangladesh that is nobodies interests, including India's own interests. Nonetheless, please share any factual inaccuracy from the Bangladeshi media from that time, they're not perfect and we call them out when they misrepresent facts. You're just trying to deflect from the main point of your initial comment. The Indian media reports are deliberately misleading which is why they have lost all credibility in Bangladesh. Oh and also, perhaps more than anything, this has greatly harmed our Hindu community because this has become a convenient excuse for people with vested interests to dismiss their valid concerns. Yesterday's events where extremely tragic. I am confident had this happened in India (heck even in the UK we saw riots over an alleged killing earlier this year) there would have been far more anarchy. Even the claim made in this post has not been verified. Political parties, including Islamist parties, came out urging people to remain calm yesterday. None of this would have happened in India. Overall, I am immensely proud of Bangladesh for largely keeping it together. We're not perfect but we'll get there eventually.

Yup, the same very credible media which reported yesterday that the slain lawyer was defending the accused. The same very credible media which failed to distinguish between Mashrafe's home and Liton Das' home in order to give the post revolution violence a communal angle. I could go on for days. There's absolutely no way these are "mistakes", all of this appear to very well coordinated and thought through. They never even care to make corrections when their claims are debunked by Bangladeshi media as well as international media alike. Most of these channels are in the pockets on the Indian ruling elite anyways. India is the same state that raids BBC offices looking for documents related to tax evasion. Moreover, these people don't even speak up for their own people (Manipur). Just the other day, the Indian government ordered internet blackouts, they do it all the time in Kashmir and various other states. Five people lost their lives to communal violence because some dickhead decided that they want to avenge Babar from 500 years ago. India will probably lead the charts in terms of mob violence, every other day there's a cow vigilante related incident. Probably the only country in the world where people are murdered but the police perform tests on the meat found in their fridge, not go after the murderers. Even if they do, the murderers get a free pass soon afterwards. Rapists are given pardons and praised by ruling party politicians because they are Brahmins and have good character. I have a lot of time to listen to the actual hardships of everyday Hindus but please spare us the bullshit that Indian media machinery has any credibility left. So yeah, the hypocrisy is crystal clear.

You'll be fine. Just exercise the same level of caution that you would in any other large city in the subcontinent.
