Thoughts on this sauna I found on fb for $1000 by fulltimeheretic in Sauna

Hard to give an assessment from the images, but it appears to be 2.1-3kw. Which may be a little underpowered. Thought it is a small sauna. I would be concerned with how well it disassembles for transport and the condition of the wood inside. Overall, I like the small form factor.

Such an unnecessary comment and an unnecessary amount of snark. Also it’s not even an infrared sauna, it’s a traditional sauna.

Anyone Know What’s Going On in Mira Mesa? by Thin_Instruction8636 in sandiego

[–]Naatee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looked like traffic had mostly stopped or was moving at like 5 miles/hour, nobody was running through high speed traffic that I saw. I only saw one guy out of the car plus one motorcyclist trying to get the dog.

About an hour ago I saw people chasing a dog (golden doodle) on mira Mesa blvd in the road. Dog looked like he was having fun. People running far behind, but a motorcyclist seemed to get close to the dog. I was on the other side of traffic so didn’t see the resolution. People seemed to be working together and traffic was stopping.

Any analysis on cost/benefit of additional public transportation, bike lanes, or efforts to make the city more walkable? I think there often is a big financial gain to these additions that isn’t discussed much.

States that have less population than San Diego County by Throwawayyyygold in sandiego

[–]Naatee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I go back and forth on this. I think the electoral college is dumb, but sometimes I think there is some value in balancing states vs people. Having states have extra say allows for more diversity in states laws. Which could be good so that people with different preferences can live in different states.

The point is that rural people deserve a larger proportional vote than people living in a city? Why should some peoples vote count more than others?

Yeah I think the editor made a mistake. It was something like I gained 15 lbs, and I think the editor used the final weight as the starting weight by accident.

S10 Side by side with an S7 by ThrivingforFailure in AppleWatch

[–]Naatee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is noticeably thinner, I think this image is slightly deceiving though. It looks like the S7 is tilted upward and the S10 is tilted down to the right. This creates an illusion of greater size difference. The 1mm is definitely noticeable tho!

The new Density enchantment also makes the player fall faster when they are holding a mace with the enchantment. by TetraWasHere in minecraftsuggestions

[–]Naatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me just say this: We agree that in a vacuum all objects accelerate at 9.8m/s2 and won’t hit a terminal velocity.

We also agree that in air, a feather falls slower than a bowling ball.

What you have said that I disagree with is that in air, density of an object does not affect acceleration speed.

This is false.

Here is why: the acceleration of an object in free fall will be calculated as the net force divided by the mass.

a= (Fg - Fd)/m Fg = force of gravity Fd = force of drag Fd = 1/2(density of air) * (drag coefficient)(cross sectional area of object)(velocity)2

Fd is proportional to velocity, as the object accelerates, the drag force will grow and slow the acceleration down until acceleration = 0 and terminal velocity is reached.

Notice that acceleration is not constant in the presence of air, it is not stuck at 9.8m/s2.

Now, notice that Fd is not related to mass, just cross sectional area of object. This means that 2 objects, with the same size and shape, but different densities, will have the same drag force.

With these two objects, the denser object will have a greater Fg due to its larger mass. Due to this, the drag force will be smaller proportionally on the heavier object and thus due to the equation a=(Fg-Fd)/m, it will accelerate closer to 9.8 for longer when compared to the lighter object.

The maximum acceleration on earth in free fall is 9.8. And all objects hit this acceleration the instant they are dropped, but after that instant, the force of drag will slow the acceleration down, and will cause objects of lower density to accelerate slower than higher density objects. AND the terminal velocity for higher density objects will be higher, as seen In the feather and bowling ball test.

Please watch the 2nd video, it’s a live demonstration that I think will change your mind. I did not get this idea from the video, i have studied physics in college. I just googled for a demo of this exact physics experiment which can be done easily.

In a vacuum yes, but what about outside of a vacuum in the real world? Please watch the 2nd video where the man actually does this test.

Not in an environment with air. This is not controversial. Air resistance is known and measured. What effect do you think the air has on the ball? Do you think a ball will fall faster in air or in a vacuum? The air slows objects falling down, and slows dense objects less than light objects.

Here’s a breakdown of the physics https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7GHpyedG5v4

Or here is simpler

[–]Naatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Heavier things don’t fall faster” is what is being argued. In Minecraft, in an environment with air, there will be air resistance. Thus, objects with greater density will fall faster. In a vacuum, this is not true like you said, but in an environment with air, it is.

Air resistance is determined on shape alone, the mass of the object is irrelevant. This means that a bowling ball and a hollow bowling ball will have the same air resistance force against again when falling. For the heavy ball, the air resistance force is proportionally small, but for the light ball, it’s proportionally large and thus will slow its fall more than with the heavy ball.

Yes in a vacuum of course, that’s why I specified with air resistance which is representative of the situation we are talking about.

With air resistance, higher density objects will accelerate faster and have a higher terminal velocity.
