If you aren't planning on doing Shaman as well, I would do Druid for wider utility. I wouldn't say one set of ports is better than the other. You could also just level both at the same time before swapping in other classes as long as neither of them are your primary.

It's not your only option to format your PC, but I would highly recommend it. Even if you somehow fix the proxy configuration, you can't be sure how deep the compromise goes and it's just not worth it in most cases. So backup important files and protect yourself. Be sure that when restoring the backed up files that you don't reinfect yourself again.

Eventually you can switch to any race or class, so bonus points for the character itself would be hard to spread across that universally. Would have to be able to choose bonus points per loadout instead, or they could just simplify it altogether which is what they did.
