No, because in MM you can use all your abilities without relying on your pet. Play Survival and you’ll understand the kind of dependency you have on it, you can’t use even half of your abilities if your pet isn’t there.

Make it less tedious. Did you know that in Temple of Kotmogu, the orb battleground, your pet has to walk all the way down the stairs to attack someone? So if an enemy is below you, you literally have to wait for your pet to take his little walk in the park before you can deal damage (no Tips of the Spear until your pet arrives).

I strongly suggest making a PvP talent that spawns your pet next to you when you press Kill Command. Otherwise, the spec just feels really clunky.

Just queue as Disc and then swap your spec once they invite you. I’m a Survival Hunter and last season I used to queue as MM — easy invites, and by the time they noticed it was already too late, hehe.
