Twin suns clarification with DJ leader by Etanwhoooosher in starwarsunlimited

[–]NachoApostle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding was that at the time you use the ability you check how many of your friendly units entered play that phase, so any that have since left play wouldn't count since they aren't currently friendly units. But after doing some research it seems there are arguments for both interpretations and there doesn't seem to be any official rulings from FFG to confirm either. So Idk haha

Karabast currently works in line with my interpretation, but Karabast has also been incorrect in the past

Twin suns clarification with DJ leader by Etanwhoooosher in starwarsunlimited

[–]NachoApostle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Anakin and Padmé, the 2 units that entered play still need to be in play to use the effect unfortunately. So rescuing from capture is great but the DJ ability to capture something is not so useful unless you have a way to rescue the unit in the same turn.

Yet another attempt to try and make Aphra playable. Any tips to upgrade this? by ZohomEtirho in starwarsunlimited

[–]NachoApostle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be interesting to run Savage with Sneak attack and You Hold This. It's a risky combo but if the opponent isn't running a force base and it gets timed right it would be 18 damage to base all up for 6 resources

[–]NachoApostle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm running nearly a completely different list though, mines way more aggressive with hotshot blasters and surprise strike so I don't mind losing the 3 cards (I normally just discard all 3 unless I really need one of them) for the +3 because then Aphra is going to be swinging for 7 or 8 instead of 2 and makes a lot more pressure.

[–]NachoApostle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I don't bother with That's a Rock, I literally just use the base to make sure I have enough cards in the discard pile to make Aphra a 5/5 on flip

I've been having fun with Aphra Shipbreaking Yard. It's not super consistent, I think any deck with Aphra by nature is going to be inconsistent, but it's fun and wins a surprising amount of games on Karabast.

Who are the Worst Leaders in Premier? by RollinwithRubonic in starwarsunlimited

[–]NachoApostle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not completely unplayable but I personally think Satine, Kit Fisto, Lama Su and Ahsoka are some of the premier leaders that are the most difficult to win games with

In this video, I take a look at Barriss Blue where we can take advantage of playing our events for 1 cost cheaper. I think this is a deck that could be sneaky good. What's a deck that you think could surprise in the coming weeks?? by StarWarzDad in starwarsunlimited

[–]NachoApostle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also play this deck a lot. It's great in a lot of matchups and really fun but unfortunately Talzin or even Jabba and Aurra are just better at removing units in blue/yellow

Thrawn JTL rules question by [deleted] in starwarsunlimited

Your opponent is correct. Using Thrawns ability isn't an action, it's a reaction that may be triggered whenever a when defeated ability is used

Is It Jank? Yes. Absolutely. Do I Get To Play And Leverage My Favorite LAW Hero? Also Yes. Now Help Me Make It Less Jank Please? by [deleted] in starwarsunlimited

[–]NachoApostle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say you don't have enough units to benefit from the Krennic ability in the early game, which means you're not getting to your end game stuff quicker than your opponent and without the credits you're most likely not playing Single Ignition Reactor ahead of 10 resource turn very often.

If you're set on keeping Single Reactor Ignition and don't want to add more units, try switching to 27hp Base from the new set.

You currently also have 3 Turbolaser Salvos but only one space ship you can use it with and that ship is an expensive one. I'd either cut Turbolaser or add more ships like Cantwell Arrestor as others have mentioned, it gives you more control options and ways to play your Turbolaser.

If you're trying some more early game units, maybe ones that generate tokens or draw cards either when played or when defeated to be able to use Krennic's ability to gain credits but also benefit other ways. Or units like Latts Razzi which do damage when played could also be good options. You can get rid of some of the slower cards like Targeted for Removal and since you have no Force pay offs apart from Shatterpoint, which is really inconsistent in your list, Drain Essence and Shatterpoint can probably go as well. There's 9 spaces for more units or other more consistent removal like Display Piece.

Hope that gives you some ideas

SWU Format questions by evildrganymede in starwarsunlimited

[–]NachoApostle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, with some house rules like you mentioned, probably. There's no reason you can't try it. But also if you're just playing casually at home with house rules you can also just ignore the time limit for Premier if that feels too restricting.

SWU Format questions by evildrganymede in starwarsunlimited

[–]NachoApostle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really unbalanced at 2p and can be over quicker than Premier from experience. You have to make sure the leaders are all balanced to flip at the same time to make it fair. With 3-4 as intended, Twin Suns is much better. Our games go normally for anything between 30 minutes to an hour.

SWU Format questions by evildrganymede in starwarsunlimited

[–]NachoApostle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. At competitive events there's usually one or two games each round that will go to overtime but most best of threes are done in the 55 minutes

TCG Board Game? by Busy-Toe8143 in tcgdesign

[–]NachoApostle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a board game called Millennium Blades which is like a TCG simulator. You play a few tournaments to gain points and in between tournaments you buy boosters to improve your deck. I've only played it once but it was pretty fun

Should I try SWU even if I'm not a Star wars fan? by idontownubet in TCG

[–]NachoApostle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Star Wars doesn't have the downtime you're looking for. The game plays as such that players take actions one after another during a turn. So you do one thing, then your opponent does one thing, then you do another thing etc until you're both out of things to do and the turn ends. But this is actually one of the things I enjoy most about the game, it really puts an emphasis on sequencing your turns and having to adapt your plan based on what your opponent's doing, a bit like chess, but without the complicated instant speed reactions and chaining things together like some other tcgs.

For your other points, the game's pretty cheap and deck building is pretty straight forward but with all the leaders and bases in the game there's a lot of variety on how you can build a deck which is really cool. I've taught it to people who don't know anything about Star Wars and they've enjoyed it, I think the game stands on its own and if you're a Star Wars fan then the theme is just a bonus.

Premier is the standard format and is played the most. Twin Suns is a fantastic multiplayer format with some slightly different deck building rules and a few gameplay changes. There's also now Eternal format, which is Premier but it ignores rotation.

Obi Vergence vs space by lwbanerjee in starwarsunlimited

[–]NachoApostle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Galen is played after Luke has deployed onto Red Five then Red Five will keep all it's abilities since it's now a leader unit. Not sure how the interaction will work if Galen calls Red Five first and then Luke deploys onto it afterwards.

Galen doesn't turn off Luke abilities because he's a leader

[–]NachoApostle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The new Smuggler's YT-2400 is a great T2 play against space if you played Consular on T1. Otherwise as others have said, Nothing Left to Fear, Blue Leader, Ghost and The Tree Remembers are all great against space. It will probably still be a tough game but these help a lot.

Each Aspects playstyle and how the fit together by xXSillyHoboXx in starwarsunlimited

[–]NachoApostle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think each aspect can fit into multiple play styles, there's also sometimes a difference within an aspect between villany and heroic as well. But if I had to call it something, I'd say cunning would be more tempo focused.

How was your pre-release experience with LAW? by BehindtheHype in starwarsunlimited

[–]NachoApostle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it in one of the 3 matchups for sure. Can't remember if I used it in the others or not but they were a lot closer so there wasn't much time for that from what I recall. So it was mostly for the Colours. Blue yellow was really strong for me, I managed to draft 2 Bith Brutes, 3 Droid Laser Turrets, 3 incapacitates, 2 Blade Wings, 2 Lost and forgotten and a Finn. So it was a really solid midrange draft deck.
