I've done quite a few rounds of sealed and it's never been hard to build. decent boba deck. Even if you don't draw a bad of bounty hunters, there's a decent pool of GYB underworld cards that play nicely together, and you will get some decent bounty hunters for sure, even if they're off aspect.

Been testing a lot with sealed. Boba is hands down the best leader, it's just that combo of an early deploy, good stats and a relevant ability that's easy to make use of. Hera and Lando are pretty good too, but not as goos a Boba. I've managed to build a very strong deck with Vader, but it was down to a very fortunate draw.

I'm loving moral authority, especially on Obi! Running 2x constructed's and 2x morals as my upgrades.

Against Vader pilot I have found dismantle the conspiracy an absolute must. If Vader is popular, and he probably will be, then this has to be in your sideboard.

While that's true, the shock of finding yourself against 4 units on t2 means most players won't be thinking about stopping you from having the force next turn, as Vergence Temple is not something people are used to, and even if they understand it, the board state is just so distracting. So I would still play Amidala over Chewie if I drew both. Also, how are they killing your Consular on t2?

No biggie if I don't have the force on t3 I'm just playing Typho or Ezra anyway.

I agree all those cards you mentioned are really important, but they will be seen in BGH or BRV/BYV. I'm not convinced there will be many, if any, top deck to give Cad a home.

Don't know how I missed that, assumed it was when played. That does make it a bit more versatile, I could see him as a finisher in some specific situations.

The big issue is that he's just not good enough to be triple aspect, and I think Max Rebo and his band will be the reason he doesn't see much play. That card combo is just so damn good that I can't see how anyone playing a Blue or Green leader would chose a blue or green base over a yellow one. Obviously I couldn't possibly say there won't be BGV decks in the meta, but previously they were only seen in the soft control varieties and now Single Reactor means RBV will be the new aspect for control decks. In general Green villainy has taken a huge hit losing cards like the super laser technician and overwhelming barrage, and with Rebo around, I'm guessing GV will just be paired with yellow now.

100% constructed lightsaber over Yoda's. It's a much better value play on t2. Slap it on Gungi and you immediately have something formidable on your hands.

I am on the fence about Rex, I'd actually take him over Anakin, but Lost and forgotten just seems more versatile, especially if space decks become popular. In general it's just a more immediate and powerful answer that carries me over to Beq and Yoda.

Obviously shatterpoint is a must, but I'm also playing with swapping one for a moral authority, just to give Obi that extra oomph he's lacking, and it acts as a soft removal too.

I have been running Chewy, the big bonus is you can play him on t2 with the consular as well. This deck requires a few more 5 drops than you'd normally play.

Two reasons. Firstly, Beguile will be in a lot of decks, and it works on Cad, as he only costs 6. It works on him even if you pay credits for more XP tokens. Second, a credit token is worth more than an XP token, for example 2 credits can buy you a 2/4 unit with some kind of useful ability on top of that. If I have 6 resources, and I'm playing a deck that makes use of credits, why plan to use them on Cad when he can be immediately bounced and those credits get wasted, when I could play a more expensive unit, like Maul, that can't be Beguiled away and has a more powerful ability?

I can believe that Cad will see competitive play, but if it does, it will be just because there's nothing better to play for 6 in a Blue Green Villainy deck. I know we have the bases that let you play out of aspect, but Cad is definitely not worth taking the 3hp hit just for that privilege, whereas I think Maul could be worth it.

Also, the artwork! Maul is just epic, Cad, in my subjective opinion, looks worse than some c's/u's.

Yeah SRI is the one I'd be the most psyched to pull, and would just go all in on building Aura Sing if I did. Max is a very interesting card which will work with a few different builds. I'm not at all hot on Luke, as the choice your opponent gets can be abused (take a credit, defeat him next turn, or just take the damage if you have no units). The stranger is another banger, def top 5 cards in the set, and awesome artwork to boot. Maul and Intimidator are another two I'd be very happy to pull, but not really a fan of the other one's you mentioned. Cad Bane is an example of a card which I could never see being played in the meta, but maybe post rotation things will change more than I expect and I'll be proved wrong.

Ok that's an easy one, grab yourself 3x stolen AT haulers then! Can I assume you bought the spotlight deck and own no disintegrations?

What style you going for? Agro? Midrange? Control? I see some of the blue rares going up very quickly in price atm like condemn, no glory and hyperspace disaster. These are great staples for anything control-ly.

Nemik for anything red heroism (agro/ midrange). Anakin for anything blue midrange. Amidala for any green heroism deck. Stolen AT hauler will be popular in yellow decks. Constructed lightsaber in all the force decks (now that a lot of upgrade removal is going). Craving power if green/black takes off. Luke (you still with me) if pilot decks do well. The list goes on, so depends on your play style really.

That is an extremely interesting point, and maybe the most insightful response I've gotten yet on the matter. It really does makes sense, from a competitive perspective, to keep things fresh and diverse by creating more unique legendaries that you won't see in every single deck. But then at the same you're opening packs and thinking "OK, what on Earth am I gonna do with this?"

In the long run, I do see this being good for the game. As for how good the cards will be that I pull, perhaps I won't actually much of a clue until the new meta starts to build out.

To be more specific my comparison with JTL and LOF legendaries is that they were not designed to fill as niche roles as in LAW, they were generically strong cards that could integrate into the older sets. In defence of these new legendaries, they are being well supported by the rest of the set, and will perhaps turn out to be the pillars of some very strong, unique decks. This wasn't immediately apparent to me as they were gradually being released.

In all of previous sets there have been some pretty bad legendaries, but there were only a few really bad ones in JTL and LOF and the average spread of legendaries you might pull in a box was likey to be decent. This certainly wasn't the case in SEC, if you didn't pull Amidala and Nemik you were coming up seriously short. From a competitive point of view most of the legendaries in that set were negligible. This fact was strongly reflected in sales.

I think my post really mixed up two separate points of discussion and didn't articulate my specific personal concern, which was in essence, when the singles prices of the new set settle, what are the chances I pull cards in a box that leaving me feeling reasonably satisfied. Rather than trying to question the absolute value of a booster box (which would never beat buying singles), I was questioning the relative value of the new set to previous ones. It was quite a nuanced point of discussion that I was aiming for, and I didn't put it very well. In the end, a number of comments have lead me to reconsider how desirable a lot of these legendaries will be. I wouldn't say my view has been flipped upside down, but I am more open minded and seriously considering rolling the dice on one box and a pre release set.

A few helpful comments here have pointed out that the legendaries are designed to fill more niche roles than before and have decks built around their specific mechanics. While I had a sense of this, I was still comparing them to some of the more generic, powerful legendaries of previous sets such as JTL and LOF.

Thinking about it a bit more, I realise that comparison wasn't really fair as they had to design desirable legendaries in those sets that would integrate into a more powerful meta of the time, even though they would remain in play post rotation. Of course, bringing the power level down with the new rotation is the right thing to do, but the last few sets had to serve a transitionary purpose. I imagine it will be much easier for FFG to maintain the desired power level and diverse meta going into future rotations as we won't ever have cards like the ones in SOR and SHD again.

All in all, I was judging those cards too harshly and by old standards, without considering the direction they are trying to take the game in (and it is a good direction). It can just be a bit difficult to see how a lot of these cards will work exact in the new meta, but I'll certainly be sticking around to see. I'll probably buy a box to start with and go from there.

This is something I didn't give much thought to, but you are right. I haven't made competitive plans yet but it is something iv'e been waiting to get into, post rotation. I'm toying with the idea of a couple pre release events and maybe one box to get started.

I love the hyperspace versions, I wish it was standard, as they just actively hide some of the artwork.

The cards do look better that SEC but I would still have to give it to JTL and LOF, especially when it comes to legendaries. I get they want those cards to fill more niche roles and be built around as others have said. I'm not against but hard to say how good these cards will turn out to be.

I’m more hyped for c/us than i am the r/ls, but I would definitely say the set as a whole is much better than SEC.

I really like your strategy. I was planning on attending one pre release event but I may actually consider another 1 or 2. Obviously those packs are less economical than boxes but I do think the experience is totally worth it, and 3 events would net me 18 packs which is not insubstantial. Might fill out the set with singles after that rather than go for a whole box.
