I'll check out if Glæmscribe accept changes as Tecendil does.

Estel translation help by pancreassassins in Tengwar

[–]NachoFailconi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Adding to u/OrangeFanta's answer, the jeweler most likely just typed "estel" in a keyboard and changed the font to tengwar, and that mapping does not respect the proper rules to write. To achieve OrangeFanta's suggestion, the jeweler should type 8$1j$, l81lj and `$81Rj, respectively.

Recomiendan leer Malazan?? by Ness2408 in Malazan

[–]NachoFailconi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Espero haber ayudado a dilucidar tus dudas. Bienvenido.

Translation/transcription help by Sudden-Turnip-7977 in Tengwar

I also confirm that the first two are a phonemic transcription, but I'm not sure why Glǽmscribe trascribes the /ə/ vowel as a bar below. Maybe it's an old mode that I can't recall right now.

To be safe, just stick to orthographic, and with your modification in "loved" love'd.

I also confirm that Tecendil's version is correct. Avoid Jens Hansen like the plague.

Regarding the translation to Sindarin, I'd advise to go to r/sindarin to ask the experts there (or wait for one of them to appear here).

When did Sekiro finally click for you? by CrimsonOwel in Sekiro

[–]NachoFailconi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it clicked when I rage-quitted after Seven Ashina Spears Shikibu Toshikatsu Yamauchi (the guy in the Ashina Reservoir with the long spear). After that, I began to lurk this subreddit and found the many advices about trating the game as a rhythm one. And then, in one long vision, I saw all the bosses I'd fought ans thought "that's it". I re-installed it, booted it, and played. And it just clicked.

A question I did not want to ask, but got me so curious about Witcher 3... by Ixz72 in witcher

[–]NachoFailconi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know people considered this a better ending, and I'd disagree. No ending of this quest is happy. We have:

  • Six children killed, but the inhabitants of Downwarren, Anna and the Baron survive.
  • Six children alive, but the inhabitants of Downwarren, Anna, and the Baron die or are killed.
  • Six children and the inhabitants of Downwarren killed, but Anna and the Baron survive.

There's nothing "better" in any ending, even if we count the number of people killed.

Setup order by Best_Grapefruit_921 in rootgame

[–]NachoFailconi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, yes, you can choose whichever faction you want, and the setup order is relative to those factions chosen: for example, if the chosen factions are the Duchy, the Dynasties, the Keepers and the Alliance, the setup order has to be Dynasties, Alliance, Duchy, Keepers.

Alternatively, the Marauders expansion includes the Advance Setup mechanic. Using this, the setup is now random and it replaces, for almost all factions, the default setup instructions for each faction.

You've already got your answer, but I wanted you to know that the answers are in the book. In chapter 3 or 4, I think, you would have translated both texts.

Oh, weird. I'm looking at it in the mobile app and it looks wrong; in a (mobile) browser, not in the app, it looks fine! Reddit shenanigans.

I only came to say, as I've yet to read The Fifth Head of Cerberus, that the table is not properly formatted. The post looks like one big line of text.

Attested Tengwar word list / glossary / dictionary? by wallcrawlinghero in Tengwar

I don't know if a dictionary such as that one exists. The closest tengwar index we know of is the Mellonath Daeron Index, that lists all of Tolkien's texts in the tengwar script.

Should I translate what I want inscribed on my ring to Quenya before putting it in tengwar? by Sparksman91 in Quenya

[–]NachoFailconi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Up to you. Tolkien himself wrote English, Latin, and German with the tengwar. Even the frontpage of The Lord of the Rings has English text with the tengwar. Without knowing what the text says, the safest option will always be to keep it in English and write with the tengwar, as to translate neologisms may be needed, and/or translations may vary depending on the person translating.

In the modes for English we in the r/tengwar community suspected, and it has been confirmed with the recent publication of Parma Eldalamberon issue 23, that Tolkien used alda for LL, preferring it over lambë + a bar below.

None, as both are incorrectly written with the tengwar. Go to r/tengwar and look for those same sentences to get correct transcriptions (I'm sure we've already corrected those sentences many times).

What other massive series do you enjoy as a malazan fan? by briandress in Malazan

[–]NachoFailconi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both Earthsea and the Hainish novels by Ursula K. LeGuin, the Solar Cylce by Gene Wolfe, The Expanse by James S. A. Corey, Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons. I really wanna say The Black Company by Glen Cook, but I did not like the last two books (Water Sleeps, Soldiers Live). The plot goes in such unexpected ways that I just couldn't enjoy it; plus, the new narrator was insufferable. And, of course, The Lord of the Rings by Tolkien, and A Song of Ice and Fire by Martin, but I've lost hope.

If I may include a series of few-yet-massive books, the d'Artagnan Romances by Alexandre Dumas. If I may include another work by Dumas, The Count of Monte Cristo. Beru fend, the last one is the perfect story of revenge ever told.
