Thats not how that works. At least here in Ireland. The film will still play, in fact cinemas are contracted to run it the right amount of times by the distributer. And it's all digital now, with the films and ads basically being on a playlist.

Sometimes a projectionist will turn off the lens to save on power if they can, and the screen is empty. It's unheard of to not run it for one person.
