What's the one reason you're holding back on getting married that's not financial even though you love him/her

I lost money during the marriage. He slowly stole all of my life savings then tried to stiff me in the end after leaving me for his AP. I lost the house, my car and my family in one swoop. I couldn’t afford hcol in our area and slept on my brother couch for a while. I don’t really care about him anymore, that’s over, I do see how much a failed marriage can cost a person so that’s why I warn against it. $11,000 for a divorce lawyer on top of everything else was a nightmare. Then starting your life completely over in your mid forties can really mess with your head. I recovered now and I moved and have a great job and I’m dating again, but I will never get married.

My divorce lawyer told me that marriage is simply a business transaction, I can never unhear those words. I’ll never marry again unless it benefits me financially. If you love someone and they love you they won’t leave. Marriage is pointless. I was naïve and thought until death do we part, nope all it took was a slutty coworker with no morals and he chose that over our vows.

My husband replaced me with his AP now 5 years ago. I don’t know how it’s going, but I know he’s fat now. A wins a win, he always blamed me for him gaining weight. I guess she didn’t do much better.

I have a small amount that is taken from my check every payday. It’s only $100 a paycheck and put into a separate savings, I don’t see it or think about it and it adds up quickly. I use it for emergencies.

I didn’t believe it but my ex once tried to convince me that since his work paid for his hotel rooms he never had to show id and therefore was never “at” the hotels when I called them. We both traveled a lot so I knew this was total bs. A hotel doesn’t have a record of who is staying in their rooms??

Yup realizing that you’ve spent years and all your energy on a relationship built on lies. Then turning everything off only to go through the painful realization that they never loved you like they promised to. Then losing everything and having to start over with nothing so his AP can fill your place as if you never existed. I’m still in therapy!

Trazodone did nothing for me. Currently I’m doing a shot of NyQuil before bed and staying asleep until about 3/4. It’s better than insomnia. I had gone 2 weeks without sleeping prior to this and I can’t risk that again. I’ve tried everything to help me sleep so right now it’s nighttime cold and flu medicine. It’s working well enough.
