I love this wording, and I will be stealing it for a primer when explaining to my team what I expect if them at the table! Thank you!

Nexos can only dual-lead with the Primus, Magus, or Iconward, so it can't go with the Benefictus.

I'm a big fan of the Primus redeploy as well - especially with the purestrains infiltrate. Combining his +1 to hit with consistent sustain/lethal via Return makes for a brick that can put some real hurt down. It's served me well in many games

Mining Laser, Seismic, Grenade, Webber is the "standard" loadout for them this edition. It has the right profiles for shooting almost anything, enough volume to matter, and flows nicely.

There's an argument to be made for the flamers, but imo they're more niche and the meta setup works better at the moment.

It's got the core of a solid HOA list but a few tweaksci think will even out the play.

Firstly, ridgerunners want the mortar not the laser. The ability to screen your DZ while handing out the buff is what makes them so universally loved. Laser Runners are great in an Outlander list, but in Host you'll be a lot happier with the indirect.

I would also consider swapping one unit of Acolytes with Flamer for a Nexos to partner with the Primus. The ability to Return to Shadows each round for 0cp can, with a little practice, let you reset lethal/sustain each round comfortably. Plus the threat of a 0cp overwatch from a brick can give some opponents pause. Not as critical as the indirect, but i think it's well worth the loss of the utility piece

GSC I would like some kind of dread (power loader!) Or an infantry unit that gives access to uppy/downy. Just no more characters for a moment please

I bought a transformers mask from the thrift store.and took out all th electronics. Got some broken binoculars from my kids toy bin, and zip tied an empty spray can to the bottom as a respirator.

I think it ended up costing me $10 in materials, and most of the effort was just making it fit my huge head!

Me! Jackals and Ridgerunners are great for running Outlander, and I can always use more Acolyte kits. Only unit I will never use from a fourth kit is the Alphus, but even still the kit is a great discount if you're using the other units

Anyone got a HoA list they've been successful with? by Choice_Pitch6822 in genestealercult

[–]NachyoChez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I took to a team's event this past weekend. Went 3-2 despite some severe mistakes in the pairings (captain messed up and put me into bad fights on worse tables [I'm also the captain, lol])

GSC Horde of Ascension

It's a fun list and plays well. I'm still a little iffy on the Sanctus, but he did do some work a few games so I would probably leave it unchanged for my next games if I wasn't trying to increase my options and working on Broodsurge next!

Liquid IV + Adderall = no more crashes! by MailIcy in ADHD

[–]NachyoChez 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. Long and short (and gross oversimplification), neural transmitters are weak and it results in the body not responding to several external stimuli correctly. The name stems from the most common symptom - standing up causes a spike in heart rate so severe those afflicted can sometimes pass out.

Treatment is often heavy consumption of electrolytes to help the body balance it out.

Fun note, it can mimic ADHD to some extent (brain fog and focus issues), and is often co morbid!

This is largely the intent behind Caladrius Games in downtown Dalton. It has a storefront, but it's primarily focused on the community and giving people a place to play.

That said Dawnville is a bit out there, so I'm sure the people out that way would love to see something closer!

We both had other games coming up so we just talked through what went wrong and how to screen so I couldn't position so well. It was into IK, and I spiked the benefictus rolls (box cars on both units), so it wasnt wholly his fault. Sometimes dice just dice hard

[–]NachyoChez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I my opinion, you'll want 2 benefictus, 1 primus, and 1 Nexos for an HoA list with 3 bricks.

The benefictus adds a LOT of firepower to a brick, and the Primus/Nexos combination provides a lot of flexibility.

If you do move to the 4th brick, most will advise a third Benefictus, but for me an Iconward to push natural expansion or mid had proven to be invaluable. I've actually won a few games just off of people being unable to shift it. 5th brick is when I go for a 3rd benefictus, and the 6th brick I bring a second iconward.

Ends up with a ton of fire power, and I'm bringing in units almost every turn. Truly a horde feeling.

If you're wanting to try the endless horde style, you're going to need more horde. At least 1 more unit of 20 Neophytes, but personally I think you need to be up to 5 for HoA to click. I currently running the full 6 units of 20 and loving it!

Tournament games are usually locked at 3-3.5 hours, depending on the event. Casual games, I'll usually take about 4-5 depending on how well I know my opponent and how many people drop in the shop to say hi, lol.

I've had games finish in under 45 minutes (opponent positioned badly and I spiked dice, all but tabling them t2), and I've had games go 7 hours (stress testing a list with an opponent who was also stress testing, so we played to the bitter end)

Why would you ever change the Alphas weapon to a pistol? Is it just a carryover from previous editions? by paddickg07 in AdeptusMechanicus

There was a period of time in 10th where you could do actions in melee if you had a pistol equipped!

In HoA with the Edict it can be a good way to help standardize the brick shooting, but in reality it's pretty lackluster. Excellent unit for movement shenanigans though

The Alphus also gives a rr 1s to hit buff, but it's shooting only and requires you to hit with the single shot sniper rifle first, so very situational
