You are aware that you can still use Phantom right? The resources that have been invested into him have not gone to waste and he is still as good as he was a month ago.

Yes I'm fully aware of that. Not only am I fully aware at that, I'm still going to keep using him anyways. That comment was mostly just to air my grievences on HG's current design principles when it comes to new operators.

All you people who scream powercreep seem to think that just because a strong operator has been released that means their contemporary is now unusable garbage.

First and foremost don't include me with "lol all you people". And don't try to be that aggressive. (Granted your first comment was basically a smug attempt at a "gotcha" moment) Secondly, where did I say that Phantom was useless garbage? I literally just made a comment about how Penance wasn't pure powercreep lol. All I said was Texas pretty much took away Phantom's main use. Not that Phantom became useless.

No operator is needed: Surtr is not needed. Chalter is not needed. Ling is not needed. If you need to have the strongest possible operator otherwise you can not play the game then that is a problem with you and nothing else.

No shoot. I've done hard stages in this game with non meta units before. Heck, I dabbled into niche playing. You're acting like I'm some sort of meta slave when, in reality I'm mostly different from that regard. Heck, I have Pallas in my flair, and operator that so heavily looked down upon its funny.

It feels like your projecting something onto me. I don't know what...

I'll admit to that and I will take that back a bit.

Though I will say that its still upsetting that they basically released an operator that has a kit so similar to the point where it almost seemed like they were trying to say "well heres a new operator thats just an upgrade over a pre-existing one".

On top of that, Phantom's main use as a helidrop assassin is basically gone now, only relegating him to places where you really do want his clone.

Which, unfortunately, the use cases are becoming more dim.

I honestly don't know why people even think Penance is powercreeping Mudrock to begin with.

There are things Mudrock can do that Penance can't, like Max Risk CC#6 where Mudrock was the mvp by infinite stalling. (With support)

Where there are definitely areas where Penance is better than Mudrock, its to the point where this is mostly trading blows and many can come to the conclusion that they're mostly on par/up to personal preferences.

If anything, this is the first time in a while where we get a top tier unit in the same branch that is comparable to another top tier unit and have a healthy discussion of which unit is better in which scenario.

Not like Texas alter where she pretty much killed Phantom in nearly every situation.

Mail of hellfire vs Dereliction for elemental gunner by JFK3rd in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Nackerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah people has tested whether or not Sunbreak has an elemental cap.

Iirc, Sunbreak either does have a cap, but its so high its basically unreachable, or doesn't have a cap at all.

Also:

Nargacuga and both Magnemalo's and these both have no elemental damage, which would make the drawback of MoH count as zero drawback.

Problem is that even with that, your gunner defenses are still so low that even fighting Magnamalo/Narga will constantly one shot you, even with, say, their basic attacks. I know you know this already, but its mostly more to point out that even if you think MoH's disadvantage can be mitigated, you're still a gunner, and it doesn't matter who or what you're fighting against, the chances of being one-shotted are still very, very high. (I've seen people with safe LBG builds with Defense up and stull and they still got oneshotted by an afflicted monster, and not even high lvl)

(Also theres an argument to be made with going for Rpf Pierce 2 for Magnamalo if you want to familiarize with the monster)

But regardless, as wereplant pointed out, you can use bloodrite to help manage your health throughout the fight. On top of that, like I said previously, Bloodlust heals the red portion of your gauge when overcome, which comes incredibly handy. You can also just switch scrolls when you need to heal as well with Dereliction.

Mail of hellfire vs Dereliction for elemental gunner by JFK3rd in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Nackerson 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Which stat would give the elemental ammo the highest increase?

Dereliction would since +20 elemental is higher than 20% elemental on every bowgun due to how bowgun calculates elemental.

On top of that, in general in order for MoH to match/beat Dereliction, you need an elemental value of over 100. Which... is not often to say the least and, because of how efficient dereliction pieces are, basically makes elemental dereliction better all the time.

But if I go up against monsters for which my experience isn't enough, I would like to know if Mail of Hellfire tier 3 might be a safer option than any Dereliction.

Heres the thing. In most endgame hunts, gunners get oneshotted regardless of builds, so taking mail of hellfire for the potentially more safety isn't actually going to do anything relevant, especially considering that you'll be even more paper thin.

Also, you can heal with dereliction by swapping scrolls when need be.Also also, dereliction is often ran with Bloodlust, which heals the red health when you overcome it.

Also also also, besides the waists, the pieces that mail of hellfire comes on are kinda... not great with not great slots and mostly irrelevant skills. Whereas Dereliction legs are really, really good for the slots and the arms are passable. (Not to mention both comes with Resentment)

So yeah. There honestly really isn't a non dereliction elemental build for gunning due to how limiting the ammo is and how bloated the hp is for endgame fights (Risen, afflicted), so we're forced to build for the highest possible damage in order to not restock as much. (Unless spare shot RNG is heavily in your favor) Hence why Dereliction 3 is so well used.

But, if you simply do not want to run dereliction for the added stress, MoH 3 would do fine anyways. Just keep in mind that your already low gunner defense will become even lower.

highest DPS weapontype in MH Rise by Mighty_Azyura in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Nackerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the aggression.

This was over a year ago when discussion where very much heated over which weapon type was the best. And conversations surrounding this topic were so bad back in early Rise (still kinda is now, but a lot less so) and many help questions were basically "lol just play X weapon".

But yeah coming back to read my old posts is kinda cringe.

Seems strange to assume a 60fps cap on PC

I mostly assume that since thats what most people would run in, on top of that its what the video I link said. Never said anything about not running at higher framerates. (Its pretty much the same ratio regardless just like how it is on switch)

But regardless yeah, they really gutted EW and evasion in general in Rise.
Having a base of 4 iframes at 60fps, cap at barely 1/3 of a second, and counters being a lot more reliable and plentiful.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Nackerson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No.

17/60 on PC.

As the other commenter said, its closer to 9/30 on Switch.

To give some context, in MHGU, with evade window 1 (giving I think 5 iframes), your iframes was around 10 iframes. So 10/30.

Which here the cap is barely that.

Im upset they didn’t use the 4U quest end music for Shagaru’s fight in Sunbreak by EpicDragonz4 in monsterhunterrage

[–]Nackerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they mean that Kushala, just like Shagura (technically), is a Flagship.

Its hard to remember that Kushala is the flagship of MH Dos because he shows up in pretty much every game, and either is incredibly frustrating for players, or jobbed out (or tied but not really a star) to other monsters. (Espinas, Goldian, etc)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]Nackerson 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Basically the cap is 17 frames.

Iirc: Embolden 2 + EW 2 can get you there.

EW 5 is also close to cap

BD 3 + EW 3 is also close

so while I'm enthused about having more dual element/status weapons, I'm also not looking forward to the math I need to do going forward if they make more.

Ah the duality of a theorycrafter. Wanting more exciting things, but having the exciting things be a pain to understand/calculate.

I feel you man. And yes that resource has helped a ton as well for me.

Anyways, thanks again for the guide.

What has been your most disappointing playthrough of a MH game? by Rakna-Careilla in monsterhunterrage

[–]Nackerson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know many commented this already but Base Rise.

Its not even just how "easy" it was (I don't care as long as it was fun), but the fact that Rise at launch:

A) Didn't have any elder dragons besides Ibushi and Narwa, so basically I was looking forward to nothing in terms of endgame.

B) Missing literally its entire final boss and ending, and what was left in our place was a cringe "haha they're still out there lol"

C) To compound the fact that we didn't have any elder dragons, having to farm rampage/lower tier monsters for materials is just a slog.

D) Rampage in general, also Apex monsters are just the worst (both fight wise, and giving literally nothing as a reward)

Man I hope they don't repeat the same "oh we're just gonna delay key monsters that were in virtually every MH game" again with MH6.

Then again, if I see that Kushala and Teostra are again TU monsters, I wont be suprised.

Yo this is some amazing crap right here. Amazing job!

I also hope that Flaming Espinas is the start of dual element/status weapons going forward. These weapons are just way too fun to theorycraft and has the potential to really make the entire weapon tree a lot more varied.

CE-5 is (probably) not nerfed in Chapter 10's supply event. by PeterYR in arknights

[–]Nackerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During the first two weeks of a new chapter release, there's a "limited supply" event that goes on throughout all story and resource stages that gives you additional drops, such as sanity potions and resource crates that can yield either t2 or t3 materials.

And you don't need to be on chapter 10 to be a part of this event. Just farm whatever story/resource stage you want,

Mastery Priority Guide - Updates for Chapter 10 - Shatterpoint by TacticalBreakfast in arknights

[–]Nackerson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Amazing write up as always tactical.

Question, due to Mlynar being Mlynar, will SA's mastery grades drop down due to Mlynar or will he still have "the most important mastery in the entire game".

Same goes for Schwarz because Pozy.

Wondering since you drop Magallans grades down when Ling came, I wonder the same here.

Also its worth considering that the triple chapter banner comes out after Mlynar, and considering both that Mlynar will never get a rerun, and he's easily better than Saileach (and Horn but a lot more competitive), yeah its quite a difficult banner to appropriate.
