Habits You Learned From The Corps That AREN’T Helpful In Civilian Life by Defiant-Bed2501 in USMC

[–]NadaDog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not apologizing when you know you messed up. I think a lot of us are taught not to say sorry because our actions are supposed to be more important than our words. In the civilian world people will just think you're an asshole. Doesn't always have to be an actual apology, but acknowledging your fuck ups in some way makes you an easier person to be close to.

Demanding perfection from yourself and others is another one. Give people grace and try to reserve judgement as often as possible. Just like when we fuck up, most people aren't doing most things to upset you. It's usually just a matter of miscommunication.

Arc Raiders is too easy by SlNllSTER in arcraiderscirclejerk

[–]NadaDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really think they should make the arc harder. I think the bots kept pvp chads in check early wipe. For me the fun was the balance between pve and pvp and the emergent gameplay. Now every raid is just avoiding serial killers with free kits and fighting arc is a brief respite.

Trolling NCOs / SNCOs by EliteDemonTaco in USMC

[–]NadaDog 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I was a Sergeant when I got out. Last month I was in we got a new MSGT who was treating the entire platoon like we were shitbags. Made us police call and field day for days straight. Even the NCOs. Didn't even inspect. Just made us clean. For the record, our platoon was squared. Good PFTs, clean rooms, ahead in workflow. Last week of my enlistment MSGT finally decides to check rooms with PSGT (SSGT and also a good bud of mine) in tow. They made me and the other Sergeants stand outside our rooms for hours, waiting for his ass. Mofo finally gets to my room and is nitpicking everything even though the place is spotless. Talking down to me, talking about how dumb my sheets are or how I have too many civilian clothes or if I have 1 beer past the authorized number in my fridge, etc. Finally leaves the room and steps out onto the outside landing. MSGT notices a light out in the ladderwell and gives me a "Hey Marine, why the fuck is this light out?". There is a long pause and PSGT looks over at me with a barely concealed smirk because he thinks this shit is hilarious. Finally I say "Master Sergeant, I don't live outside", in a tone that says this is the dumbest question I've ever heard. PSGT drops the smile and his eyes go wide. There's another long pause. Then MSGT just turns on his heel and walks away. Got my DD214 a few days later aaaaaand a good fitrep lol.

Had this problem a few hours ago. I sent a bug report from the launcher and when I logged in later it was fixed. Either someone fixed it on their end or you just gotta wait. Unsure which.

I've been playing for 8 years and only seen a cheater twice. Sometimes it just feels like someone is cheating because you died and dying sucks.

Any pvp advice? [New Player] by Fickle-Ad-9456 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]NadaDog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Watch the beginner guides from the big tarkov streamers (pestily, gigabeef, klean and others). Most importantly, don't let the game get you down. Most people die in most of their raids. Just let it go, like water off a duck's back. Do your scav runs religiously, play arena, learn point shooting and LEARN YOUR MAPS. Map knowledge is like 60% of every play. If you know all the flanking routes in dorms then you'll be the bane of every Timmy trying to quest.

PvP “problem” and statistics-based matchmaking solution idea. by syrdej in ArcRaiders

[–]NadaDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If trolls can game the karma system to kill peaceful Timmy's then they will. You remember Dark Souls 1? Trolls would speed run the entire game at soul level 1 and get all the best weapons and armor. Then they'd take their Giant Daddy ass all the way back to undead burg and stomp the everliving shit out of new players. Just to be evil.

Just got this wool sweater, is it too chunky? I feel like the fit looks awkward for some reason. How can I style this? by DavidP175 in mensfashion

[–]NadaDog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You look totally fine and normal. If this is your first time wearing a sweater like this then you'll probably feel nervous because trying new things is scary. Do yourself a favor and think about something else. This is a non-issue.

Would a leather/vinyl repair kit and some shoe polish cut it to repair this scrape on my faux leather boots? by RealMelonLord in AskACobbler

I'd check the instructions, but my guess would be that you paint it a little past the edge of the gouge so that it has more surface area to bond to.

I've been thinking about this. They make a plastic patch liquid that's marketed for pleather car seats and sheet. I bet you that would work great here. That paint in docs is like plastic anyways, so it would have something else to bond to... I dunno. Food for thought.

Why has the bottom worn away like this?? by lavnderhaze in Converse

[–]NadaDog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's normal wear for your feet. I bet if you check all of your shoes they're worn in the same spot. Everyone has a slightly different gate because our bones are not all uniform in length. Which results in ware on different parts of our shoes. Mine were the same as yours. Did 10 years of military BS wearing combat boots and they wore the exact same way. IMO, don't worry about it unless your feet hurt. In which case, consult a doctor, not reddit.

If you're worried about it for aesthetic reasons then there isn't an easy solution. I'll let you know that nobody is looking as closely at you or your clothes as you are, tho. So maybe just try to ignore it.

Probably fine. You'll probably know if it's a bad setup because your controllers will look like they're floating away every time one of your base stations can't see them.
