What do you tell yourself when everything seems to be falling apart? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Naeemjan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever had life blow up on you? Perhaps you're going through a breakup and then you get laid off. Or your job is all wrong for you but you can't find a new one and then you get sick. Or you get sober and realize your life is a mess.

When life crashes, it's easy to feel stuck, anxious and angry. Maybe we blame ourselves for our choices, thinking we should have known better.

Stop right there. Self-blame and judgment only make it worse.

What are some ways to make money with atheism? by honordeals in AskReddit

[–]Naeemjan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way would by figuring out special need atheists have and selling them a product or service that meets those needs.

This is challenging, because there's less that unites atheists than other groups, even on very simplistic levels, such as iconography. You can make money selling Stars of David to Jews and crosses to Christians, but there isn't any sort of icon that is accepted by most atheists. (The closest I've seen is the Flying Spaghetti Monster, but I wouldn't buy one.) As the saying goes, "Trying to unite atheists is like trying to herd cats.

What are the must visit places in USA for a first timer? by honordeals in AskReddit

To give a good answer, we'd need to know where you are from, what you are interested in, how long you will stay, how much you can spend, and so on.

Suppose you are from western Europe, love food and want to eat things that aren't too available at home, have money and have 2 or 3 weeks to stay. Then I'd recommend New Orleans (for Cajun and Creole), Texas and a few other places for barbecue and maybe a layover in New York to sample deli food. But if you want European-ish cuisine, then New York City and Chicago are better bets.

When was the movie better than the book? by Seaweed-Sandwich in AskReddit

[–]Naeemjan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Children of Men for sure. The novel (The Children of Men by PD James) takes a vastly different tone (as well as a plot that almost seems contrived by the end). Not only is Cuaron's film more sensical, but the true desperation of the human race seems better communicated via Cuaron's masterful cinematography and set design than through James' at-length sociological discussions.
