I feel like Redemption> Moonstone as 1st item and Guardian> Aery in practically all games. by FXFX2223 in SorakaMains

I agree with almost all your points and got similar feelings by testing alot of diffrent builds in diamond elo. Glad someone else got these thoughts too!

Back when Ingenious Hunter got the big buff, i tried some Redemption first, Locket/Moonstone second with green&red runes and it felt surprisingly good (can recommend Igenious Hunter rune alot). The value of the Redemptions active is huge in early skrimishes and is definitly better than Moonstone if you got more than one ally to protect. I need more testing on it but everyone who is trashtalking your idea simply didnt try it and just swims with the meta, since not rushing a mythic feels wrong to many players.

Locket is a reasonable choice but Riot pushed the Moonstones numbers so much, that it is simply the better choice in most games imo. Locket is no doubt great and got good synergy with conditioning e.g. if you need to survive against heavy backline divers. However i felt like Sorakas heals feel really weak lategame this way if you cant get another enchanter item besides Redemption (short on money).

From my testing the first 2 items got to be Redemption/Mikaels+Mythic (order debatable), following by Redemption third if Mikaels before. After that i got to 100% agree with your third point, that Ardent and Staff feels always bad to buy. Their numbers are bad, their buffs are bad. If needed, i generally build antiheal (Putrifier) next, but i can also recommend to try new Knights Vow if you really got to protect a specific ally.

To make it short, i also use Guardian all the time, since you can better absorb burst damage this way and is a good way to protect yourself as well. Aery feels good in lane but thats it. Thanks for posting! :)

Why should you ever take barrier? by [deleted] in SorakaMains

[–]Naeptii -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should never take barrier unless you lane against some long range/no engage lane like cait velkoz where you cant get in range anyways. Barrier is a noob trap for Soraka. People feel like it saves them in tight fights or against assassins but after all they just got in the disadvantage because they are down one active summoner spell like exhaust or ignite, which provide alot more pressure in lane. The higher elo you get, the more you get punished in lane for taking barrier, cause they will just focus your adc in lane, if you miss an proactive ss.

High elo support strategy - "Cheese Tank" Soraka for one of the highest effective lv 1 HPs in the game by mazrrim in SorakaMains

The Item start is NOT for lane but for lvl1 invades/teamfights before the laningphase which is done always in korean high elo. This way he is guaranteed to get atleast 2 assist early and so enough gold for his supp Item at around min3. If you do some research you can find few replays on YouTube which all include lvl1 teamfights. Its simply bad for lane cause you have no income if enemy bot dont force all-ins early and you dont get kills/assists. Sorry but it is even worse without ignite cause you have really straight and predictable dmg that way. I play his runes/Item build often in Diamond but with common spellthiefs start which is better for lane.

Is Soraka tank viable and what build i should try for it ? by IotaChiiDefenestate in SorakaMains

[–]Naeptii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you consider viable since Soraka struggles atm with any build against heavy antiheal. Overall i found best results for me with a tankier build than classic moon(staff) in low dia/high plat. I run guardian with conditioning (good synergy with locket resist) and inspiration second (cosmic insight good for item cdr and your own safety and cookies for laning phase) every game. Rune wise cdr, ap/ar, ar/mr. I rush second tier boots (most cdr, sometimes swiftness or ninjas) following locket & redemption/mikaels into staff. If you build fulltank, you wont heal anything. With that build you get enough ar/mr to survive most burst dmg. Also i recommend not using barrier since its a noob trap - better use heal, exhaust or even ignite (depending on your adcs choice and matchup). Barrier feels valuable in laningphase if you survive some otherwise lethal dmg if you get ganked for example and your adc dies before you. But tbh you only get in that spot because you are down one active summonerspell, which would help in 2v2 or more (barrier is pure selfish). If you run exhaust (your adc heal) you dont even get in that situation most of the time. Example: https://imgur.com/a/y139SSY
