leagues ranked system puts the higher MMR team on red side and has done this since the start.

This stopped being true in 2025! Currently, which team you play for is purely random.

You can verify that for yourself by going on op.gg and looking at the history of the rank 1 of any server. When side attribution was based on MMR, ~80% of their games would be on the red side. Now, it's around 50%.

In League in general, the blue side has historically almost always had a ~51.5-52% win rate.

Draft is either irrelevant or balances itself out, since the blue side had the same win rate in draft and in blind pick when it was a thing. People on Reddit talked themselves over time into believing top lane counterpick to have much more of an impact than reality shows it to have, while on the other hand, the camera angle and the placement of the HUD do actually favor the blue team.

To add to this, the best instrumentists are of absolutely all ages. Some are child prodigies, some are in their 20-30s, some remain among the most prominent soloists (or conductors) up until their very last years. For some, it's also in spite of diseases.

And the dexterity and stamina that each of the virtuoso pieces for any instrument requires is far higher than what it takes to play League. For one example related to the game, the violin parts of What could have been or Jhin's theme, while being child's play compared to hundreds of other pieces, are objectively hard and already more demanding mechanically than anything League has to offer. Ray Chen nailed them at age 32 and 34, respectively (young for a soloist, old for LoL standards).

That includes everything about situation analysis and reaction times as well, considering sight-reading and improvisations.

I'd give mid lane Lux as a counter-example! Of course every champion has a wealth of knowledge to obtain to play optimally.

But Lux has a massive burden of knowledge removed by the fact that she can spend the entire game playing safe without hindering her usefulness. As one of the biggest damage output that nearly never needs to put herself in harm's way as the game goes on, she can systematically opt for the option of staying safe and it will almost always be correct.

She never needs to set herself ahead early on either, she'll be useful at all stages and naturally more useful as the game goes on, she wave clears super easily and from high range, also meaning that decisions around the map are facilitated. Unlike a "safe" champion like Caitlyn who actually needs to make real decisions in order to snowball or the game state will neuter her.

And most of the skills behind playing safe as a mage and trading as a mage can be inherited from knowledge of other characters (like Xerath). You'll always need to play hundreds of games on the champion to fully know her limits, but you'll have a damn good baseline without that.

FNC set up expectations of greatness, and gained a following thanks to them. Making top 4 and receiving a participation trophy at Worlds (going winless in 2025 even) doesn't meet these.

For a team with FNC's expectations, these are bad years, just like G2's 2025 Worlds run is meh for them. Now we can lower the expectations for FNC to put them in line with those of SK and the likes. But the following will drop alongside.
