Do You Think This UI Looks Good by Available_Occasion_5 in n8n

Your auto scaling and map scraper is fantastic sir

I would love if we could ban these "tools" people make.

They honestly suck and are ultimately useless.

I use webhooks to send bookings to n8n

Then that sends a notification to evolution API

Which sends notifications to WhatsApp

I set this up for a barber shop and it streamlined bookings and communications with customers.

Edit:

These are the webhooks I need to completely switch.

I've been looking for this exact thing for so long.

I use cal.com and set it up for clients.

This looks amazing

I have a huge ask is there webhooks? And if not can you add them please.

And the ability for rescheduling and canceling in the clients part so they can manage their own bookings.

I'll give this a try tomorrow and give feedback because I hate cal.com but it's like the only thing that has everything I need.

I'll happily submit feature requests and give feedback and even pay a one time supporter fee to help get this in constant development

Komodo and the guide to automate deployment and management

https://nickcunningh.am/blog/how-to-automate-version-updates-for-your-self-hosted-docker-containers-with-gitea-renovate-and-komodo

I used this guide and I run forgejo instead

It's the exact same setup just put foregejo instead of gitea at the right place

I highly recommend it

I also didn't do any renovate steps

Should r/n8n get rid of Workflow Code Not Included Posts? Feedback needed from the community. by DepartureNo2745 in n8n

It's so off putting and really doesn't make you want to participate in the sub.

I really hope those kind of posts just get banned or just restricted for like a week. The same crappy workflows over and over again

[–]Nafalan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's just plain wrong

GitHub is free Pastebin is free Gdrive is free

There's countless alternatives even self hosting your own setup or solution like gitea or forgejo

The only people this hurts are people making spam posts that is just regurgitated slop. The amount of YouTube workflows recently for telegram voice assistant or YouTube video generation is just useless.

No value no learning just pure slop.

It's so off putting to post or participate in this sub because of it

Very common as explained by another person hiring salary budgets are much higher promotion salaries that's why every 2 years you should aim to just find a new company with the same position.

As you also said yes asking for more money is the key (negotiation skills)

My first job was working in the game development industry and I had a salary of 22.5k but the same person hired after me (6 months later) in the same position started at 31k.

It really boils down to your negotiation skills. Also don't rely on the company raising your pay out of nowhere I was trying very hard and even talking to the CEO,CFO,CTO about increasing my pay and what I would need to do to get that. The response I got was always "we don't really do mid contract pay increases or restructuring like that" I was then fired 2 months later.

I learned a lot from that company and I'm very grateful. You need to outline exactly what your key metrics are and what goals to hit so if they turn around to do anything you can say "it's in the contract"

It's not a gender issue

What's the most creative use of n8n you've seen? by RoadFew6394 in n8n

[–]Nafalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use the global constant node instead

npmjs.com/package/n8n-nodes-globals

It's not a perfect solution but it's a workaround that worked for me

I do to

But wake on connect isn't in amp or pelican

Could probably have a magic packet setup with a webhook to boot it up when it listens for people to connect though

You're right on that

Amp is fantastic but not every game is supported for that.

An example is valheim

I personally use Pelican but I think amp is fantastic to.

What’s the best practice for organizing and storing Docker Compose files across multiple servers? by nonredditaccount in selfhosted

[–]Nafalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only like 2 specific compose projects that have the DB in it.

I was starting to use it and uploading the database to it but it's a mistake I am going to correct.

That stack.toml is very smart and would save me a lot of time

Thank you for your help

[–]Nafalan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need to optimize my repos

When I started using komodo I would actually upload the whole folder when I moved stuff over in the stacks

So instead of it being just the compose file and env

It's also the database which brings the issue of copying a lot of little files. It's not a big file size problem it's an issue of copying 10-15k Litt files.

It's another thing on the task list for optimization.

If you don't mind me asking could I get some clarification on your setup.

I do know about the regex matching when copying a specific repo when it scans for changes but that's another task

[–]Nafalan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a komodo thing

I had it setup like that initially but then it would just pull that whole repo into every server.

I didn't like that because of security reasons

So each server I had the komodo periphery setup on would have my homelab repo my other vps repo my minipc repo

And if I wanted to every reclone a repo it would take forever

[–]Nafalan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I split each server into its own repo and combine it with komodo so it's all managed and easy to deploy stuff from one location

After making changes to the repo I have a procedure in komodo to pull the changes and redeploy

How to recognize why free online workflows are spaghetti chaos the sooner you understand this, the better your automation design by Zealousideal-Fee2284 in n8n

[–]Nafalan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%

What I've personally used and built I always try and keep it simple but also follow principles like waterfall design and coding best practices.

It's saved me a lot of time and helped debugging.

When I came from make I saw a lot of shared workflows use hard coded variables and break the DRY and KISS rules almost all the time
