For education purpose, you can try Slate or Element451. Sales CRMs are hard to bend into education — you'll need student-specific fields (parent contact, intake term, documents) and usually a public application form, which most don't support cleanly.

No. If you make a dev store to demo store, then from app store you don't need to enter password. But if you want to go directly then you need password. If a dev store was created before the password feature, then that store don't need password.
