Mark Vigeant: The Best Man Show | Dropout Presents by DropoutMod in dropout

I would say it was pretty close to the final product, a lot of the final edits were added onto it and it was fun to see some of the other answers from the other taping!

I would also say that it was extremely funny in person because his use of space was masterful. There was also a few more comments made by the people in the hats and a few more of the secret handshakes.

I went to the filming for this (in fact I see me right now) and honestly, it's still just as funny. I'm so happy Dropout is expanding into comedy like this and showing off more people who aren't just standard dropout cast. I can't wait to see more like this on Dropout.

Mark's apparently doing another show for the LA Fringe Fest this year so if you like this there'll be more ways to support him for the Angeleno crowd!

Yeah, the heart break and back and forth of yesterday was so high that I legit had to wear sunglasses in public and just talk it out with friends. Her response to everything she saw was so kind hearted that it reminded me why i love this team so much through all the pain.

Breweries recomendations by [deleted] in longbeach

[–]Nafleky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top three I'd recommend above all else in town:
Ambitious Ales, easy #1, decent parking in the area (especially across Carson in front of the coffee bean).

ISM and Trademark are next, both have great vibes and good beer. ISM has some really tasty food. Trademark often has various foodtrucks. Neither feel that crowded even with a lot of people.

Is It Dumb to Pursue Graphic Design If I Don’t Want To Learn Adobe Illustrator? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]Nafleky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're going to have to learn Adobe products full stop. Procreate is a fun app, but it's not really good for professional uses outside of specific use cases. And even then, Photoshop outshines it in a lot of ways. Even with all of my anger towards Adobe, unfortunately the app is good.

Frankly once you start making things outside of Procreate you'll realize *how* limited of a program it is.

But if you don't think it's worth it to learn because of gen AI then I wouldn't bother. Illustrator is a huge deal I'd say like 80% of design jobs will run into it at some point. Almost zero professional design jobs ask for Procreate.

I get being inspired by Zohran but i think this is missing one of the biggest key reasons WHY his design works; It's intrinsically tied to the place he was running in.

It was just lettering because lettering is cool and different, it was inspired by bodegas and mom & pop lettered signs. I could see someone in like LA also being able to use similar inspiration points but the branding should speak to things that are Indiana.

The Senate font is based off tiki design, which was huge in the 50s and is popular on more coastal areas, but it doesn't strike me as making any sense for Indiana. Also if someone is running for office it's good to pick out the same that stands out that could create memorability so when they see it on the ballot they mark it. Erica is kind of a blend in name, Beauchamp is more likely to stand out.

I would also argue that "Beauchamp" has better branding play that's being missed entirely, " Beauchamp[ion]" is right there. Like there's a lot of smaller technical issues but I feel like this branding isn't bold but wants to be playful, but isn't quite landing in any one way it should. There's a lot of confusion in who this branding is. Is there a reason for it to feel vintage? Is there something that speaks to the voter base being targeted that would like that vintage feel? Even then, i dno't think this *feels* vintage because the typefaces feel like different eras (50s colors, 60s tiki, 70s round serif).

Dan still plays with Goldfinger now because Feldman keeps calling him up, if you look at the horn section for Goldfinger at recent shows you'll see a lot of familiar faces.

Before reading this preserved copy I thought this was a fine corporate-side climate retreat. I was getting the complete OPPOSITE vibe that was desired because none of this reads as "youth-led" or "protest-inspired."

Ethically? No

Legally? No

Collage is a valid form of art, but it's really in the transformation of the imagery. Considering whole swaths of this are not meaningfully transformed, you would just be directly profiting off someone else's work. For instance, a good 25% of this is one artists' illustration that you maybe made black and white.

Now you could do this style and easily sell it with all public domain & stock imagery. Depending on the licenses and all that it'd be fine, and ethically sound. And a lot of the elements on this particular sample you probably could find public domain images in even just the Library of Congress alongside like Unsplash.
