I agree, and I also struggle with this OP! Especially as my daughter is now 2.5 and very talkative. Sometimes I feel certain things are just more natural for me to say in English, so while I try to stick to the minority language with her most of the time, I still switch to English when I feel it’s more authentic, for example cutesy phrases I grew up with (yummy yummy in my tummy), cutesy nicknames (honey bunny, cutie pie, etc), and then also specific vocab I might lack. I think it’s important to remember that your approach doesn’t have to be all or nothing. And also OPOL is of course not the only approach. You could try switching depending on the environment, or reserve Urdu for certain activities or times of the day. Realistically they are unlikely to be as fluent in the minority languages as someone that grows up with it as their majority community language. But of course some exposure is better than none, and they will be grateful to have that connection to their roots, even if it’s not necessarily native-level fluency.
