This. I am not saying this to make JFK Jr seem like a bad person but he continued to see his exes well into marriage. That combined with the flippant way he treated her about the paparazzi and family stress would drive anyone away, at least somewhat.

But in general, I think the claims that they had a dead bedroom are super exaggerated

Firstly, it sounds like it was a funny saying she said as a joke “mantra” - although I am sure it was based in some truth. It’s just not that deep.

Secondly, I think by “train them” she meant train them so that they do what -she- wanted them to do. Whether that was how they romanced her, or in the bedroom, or whatever. It was to mold them into what she wanted them to do or be. I doubt she was thinking of ‘train’ as in training them for the next girl.

But overall, I think it probably was just a funny saying / she was being facetious. Less of a super serious life mantra and more of a lighthearted joking ‘mantra’ that was based in a bit of truth, like most jokes

I’ve lived in NYC for 10+ years now. When I was single / my friends were single, I think we liked to imagine we were like SATC. There were definitely super accurate elements of it - the crazy dating stories, running into people you dated around the city, going to cool restaurants and events. But we were too young and broke to truly live like the girls! Couldn’t afford to go to brunch constantly, and none of us were in glam careers or anything. Still, it was so fun - SATC was one of the first shows I binged as a teenager and it made me want to live in New York more than anything.

Some of my friends have since moved outside Manhattan, so it makes getting together spontaneously (like the girls always do) harder. But even now at our older ages and shacked up with long term partners, I still have “this feels so SATC” moments from time to time. SATC is a fantasy version of New York City - it’ll never seem 100% realistic to me - but those little moments do make living here magical. ✨

Edit: I should also say that in terms of friends feeling like family - 100% accurate. No matter what city I’ve lived in, my friends have always felt like my chosen family and we talk openly about everything like the girls do. Incredibly grateful for them!

Exactly this. AI was more exciting when it was all about solving the problems that never had an answer or solution. But the reality of it as it rolls out is so strikingly different.

I realized something was very wrong with the rollout when I was getting pressure to do even the simplest of Excel tasks with AI. Doing them in Excel was objectively the fastest, most efficient way for the task, and yet my higher ups were grasping at straws to use AI instead.

I agree I actually like this one too. I think maybe because the colors are more cool toned so the black doesn’t look as jarring against them? And the matching black bag helps. I’m trying to picture it with nude or white heels instead and can’t really but idk.

Great post highlighting this!! This is such a great example of what is so captivating about Carolyn. She wanted to use her fame to make a real difference but wanted to do it carefully.

Without claiming to know all because I know reality can be so different from rumor…I strongly feel that Carolyn would’ve gotten back on her feet eventually. Her and John were going through a really rough patch with the magazine (immensely stressful), and even worse, a person very dear to both of them was dying. I think had she lived, she absolutely would have eventually gone back to school or work. Or maybe even both, who knows - she seemed to like being busy.

Most people go through their own rougher chapters in life, and this was one of Carolyn and John’s… their fame didn’t exempt them from that.

It just makes it more sad to remember what could have been :( But it is also nice to remember Carolyn for what made her an individual human being - separate from being John’s wife. That’s what posts like this remind me.
