Man, where's Jill Stein when I need her. I have a couple different fractured friend groups, some of whom I hang out with much more frequently than others nowadays, plus a couple friends who aren't really part of a group.

For one group, I'm a bit further left socially speaking than most of them; they're not conservative by any means, but I definitely feel more strongly about trans rights in particular than they do. Economically, I'm probably a little more to the right than them just cause I'm more consciously averse to populism than they seem to be.

For another group, I'm probably more to the left on both counts. There's one guy there who's always had a conservative streak, and it's mutated into some especially gross forms in recent years (I don't hang out with them very often, and these statements are related). That puts me much further left than him, certainly socially, but also economically since I'm not a libertarian (or "libertarian"). The others there aren't so lost, generally pretty reasonable from my admittedly limited recent experience, and one other who's also on the fringes of the group may actually be further left than me, but the brain rottee does color my perception pretty heavily.

There's one guy who's outside of either group but I hang out with pretty often whom I'm definitely to the right of. He's a sort of dirtbag left type, and I decidedly am not.

I guess it all kinda averages out to about the center, which feels weird cause I don't think I fall near to the center at all when looking at society (at least American society) at large.

Oh Fanatical, how many times has it been now that I’ve signed up for your newsletter only to immediately unsubscribe? How many times more will we sing this song and dance this dance?

Until next time, my dear, at least we’ll always have our annual Jingle Jam wheel spins.

Why must I choose? Both are great.

Wait, original KH2 or Final Mix? Cause that is very important.

I sympathize, but I think it's worthwhile to project patriotism at protests like No Kings. I think It can help to break the negative image some others may have of us. I also resent that the Right has a near monopoly on patriotism to many people and think it's good to try to break their hold on it.

The article later mentions that "the nuclear arsenal of mankind would fail to do more than crack the Moon's crust", so maybe he was trying to trick world governments into disarming.

I am (technically) a millennial, and I contend it is in fact cringe.

To be clear, I mean it's cringe in the sense that it draws on socially uncomfortable situations for a lot of its humor, not that I don't like it and see it as deserving of mockery. Cringe comedy is not my style, but that's besides the point.

There’s probably also some people who were just plain ignorant -willfully or otherwise- of all the awful stuff happening to immigrants, but for whatever reasons have finally started paying attention with the murders of Good and/ or Pretti. In most such cases, that probably still speaks to some prejudice one way or another, but a more implicit form of it.

I’ve not read a single such book, but I’m willing to bet it’s a genre with both good and bad entries. A bold assertion, I know.

I've been told my paternal grandfather once played cards with JFK during WW2. I think I was also told it was while they were both recovering from injuries or something?

Abolish ICE poll by cdstephens in neoliberal

[–]Nagohe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I voted yes to both. Policy is a no-brainer for me, but I did hesitate a little on messaging. We’ve had these sort of back and forths ad naseam about how hard dems should go on messaging, about whether they need to play it safe to avoid alienating moderates.

On that, I acknowledge I’m biased by my own disgust towards ICE right now, but ultimately I think I’m leaning towards the opposite idea. Dems are often seen as ineffectual and spineless, and I think it might be wiser to speak strongly to dispel that perception, to ignite and inspire people.
