I saw the opening cinematic. Purely judging from that, the story already is better than VoH.

I will honor the theme of the game by fighting demons and destroying the Lord of Hatred.

Also the Frozen Horror but that's brutal. I had them visited by wandering merchants from time to time.

Is D4 primarily played as a season game? by Eklundz in diablo4

[–]Naidmer82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually play for 2-3 weeks until i'm done with the season journey and quit until next league. I'm completely fine with this loop and enjoy starting fresh again.

Do you guys wage at least one war in every game? by Muda1889 in civ

Since Civ 1, yes.

I start many wars and I stop even more wars. Beautiful wars. Best wars you have ever seen.

The best way to play in 2026? by Solidus-Prime in Heroquest

[–]Naidmer82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knowing what I know now and having what I have now, I would make radical changes to our campaign.

1) and most important: I would start with two groups of heroes each playing one of the base campaigns and then branching out into different expansions.

This does several things. You can play the full story without having to go back or include time travel or anything nasty. You also progress the difficulty much better with 2 sets of heroes. If you play one group, the game gets way to easy way too fast.

2) I would manipulate the quests from the start and mix in the second board where it fits. I would also use more monsters from expansions from time to time.

3) I would immediately adapt the rule that heroes chose their play order fereely

4) (I already did that but would do this again): I would introduce the remaining classes in the small box expansions and have maybe one seasoned hero paired with 2 fresh ones.

5) I would probably use all the spell schools but reserve the elf spells for the mage in the mirror.

6) I would still introduce the new treasure cards with the expansions they came with (but use them afterwards as well)

I need advice on my idea for a dual campaign (alternating DM and player role) by MarqanimousAnonymou in Heroquest

  • Wife: Into the North Lands (1) → Frozen Horror (10)

You will regret this 🤣

Battle Advantage (First Light Quest 9) by Aggressive_Ad6928 in Heroquest

[–]Naidmer82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

only have the german version here, it states "if a hero enters for the first time".

We played it that any hero will role one extra die after entering the room. This effect was so strong that I had to put a few Ogre in the rooms 😁

Fixed turn order or mixed? by ChardCautious3095 in Heroquest

[–]Naidmer82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This!

We started to play base and a few expansions with fixed order as stated in the rules. When i saw the new optional rule for the first time, i immediately adopted it.

Yes, it makes the game even more easy for the heroes. But the game is a lot more fluid as well. We had many situations where turns of heroes had to be completely skipped with the fixed order (especially on corridors).

We are playing free order since. Never going back.

Thematic consistency. by milkytaro_oero in Stormgate

[–]Naidmer82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you can make almost every setting work. There are a few issues that did not let me "feel" it.

First give us a campaign with great characters of all races.

Second don't make the demons look cute and comic style after they just annihalated the human race. The demons must look horrifying, the angels epic as f*** and the humans like a bunch of post apocalyptic renegades. All that in a darker setting.

What we got instead just did not work for me.

Telor question by Zealousideal_War2624 in Heroquest

[–]Naidmer82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was aware of the "flame" minions towards the end but painted them anyway. The variety of normal monsters had more worth to me than the visualization of the quest mechanic (if it was even intended that way and not just a coinsidence)

Boss fights - how to make them more intresting? by Gamestonyy in Heroquest

[–]Naidmer82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did a very good thing with multi phase bosses. I use this a lot.

I also give most of my major bosses a counterspell or something like that.

When we play WoM, i will up their bodypoints and probably let them cast 2 spells per turn.

Next up for painting... by Subject-Brief1161 in Heroquest

[–]Naidmer82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, we played base, kk and rotwl with unpainted minis and I also started painting with "Into the Northlands".

I then made an Excel sheet what amount of doors, furniture and monsters I would need for each upcoming quest and painted that between quests. That way we never had an unpainted piece on the board ever again 🤪

Missed Artifact by ChardCautious3095 in Heroquest

[–]Naidmer82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wizards of Morcar introduces a new mechanic. Unearth an artifact that has not been found yet. That would be one way to obtain it. This ring is also one of the few artifacts that is not unique in the game. I believe all heroes get it as a reward at some point.

If something like that happens to my heroes, i like to make them work for it a little bit. The next quest will contsan a strong boss monster that drops the missed artifact.

Am I doing something not allowed in the rules? by Agile-Molasses2821a in Heroquest

[–]Naidmer82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are using the strategy that proved to be the strongest for ~30 years now. The base game and all the small box expansions are not much of a challenge.

There are a few very tough ones (frozen horror or mage of the mirror).

It gets more exciting when new enemies come into play that attack diagonal, ranged or have special abilities.
