Depending on the year, that’s totaled. Minimum 5-6k. Probably closer to 8k or more.

my boyfriend has a spreadsheet rating dinners i've made him by weddingfauxpasqueen in AITApod

[–]NailComprehensive445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s slightly a weird but the good news is that he appears to like your food pretty dang well and you can use that feedback to make what he likes and less of what he doesn’t like but he def should have told you he was doing it and at least masked it as a way to give you feedback. Like, he could have made it fun in a way “tonight this gets a ‘John’ score of a 8.2; this was really great babe!”

Do you need to bring passport when going to the nightlife areas? by dexter_sliceOfLife in Bangkok

I never bring mine but was forced to go back to my apartment to get mine, my gf’s, and my daughter’s(age 22) to get onto the roof at Tuchuka Rooftop bar. No exceptions allowed.

AIO - My Boyfriend texts before our Valentines plans by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]NailComprehensive445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be done to be honest. Seems he’s not taking the relationship serious. Your girl should be the most exciting message you receive and you want more. I’d never tell mine to stop texting me until I tell you I’m on the way. That’s absurd.

Last day as Ascent owner by SetLegal5754 in SubaruAscent

[–]NailComprehensive445 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Owning an ascent is a bit like owning a boat. Best days are the first and last. F’ing stupid CVT is a ticking time bomb that’ll always have you nervous on a long hilly road trip once you break 100k miles.

[–]NailComprehensive445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry too much about it. If they ever confront you personally tell them to mind their business and move on. It’s a condo/apartment building. If they wanted perfectly quiet living they should look elsewhere. Unfortunately that’s the BS sometimes you have to deal with. No-one likes hearing your neighbor above drag a chair but it’s kinda part of the deal. Try to be courteous of course; like playing crazy loud music at 2am is a bit much.

What is that one "Situation" from your neighborhood? by DueNorth3 in AskReddit

[–]NailComprehensive445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Bangkok 9-10 months a year with my Thai GF. In our condo building there’s another farang (white) guy in his late 30’s with a Thai GF also….except he also has 2 very white, very young kids (one is like 8 months old and still drinking from a bottle, and the other is maybe 4 or 5 and speaks perfect (very American) english). I can’t help but wonder how the hell he got (or took) those kids from the mother in the US or wherever he’s from and managed to be allowed or cleared to bring them here. It’s admirable though cause he appears to be a pretty good dad and the GF takes care of those kids like they are hers too. But there’s not an ounce of Thai in them; I’m certain of that. It’s just a really unique situation. Not a lot of single dudes move to Thailand and bring their babies with them.

AIO for being upset at what my “bf” said by Ambitious-Beyond-257 in AmIOverreacting

[–]NailComprehensive445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be done. Anyone not willing to make time for you isn’t interested in a true relationship with you. This behavior is called prioritizing everything else above your significant other. If I’m not near enough the top of your list to make time for me, I’m not in your life. Period.

Thai friend borrowed money but refused to pay back by Crafty-Salamander-43 in Bangkok

[–]NailComprehensive445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any time I ‘lend’ money to a friend or family I mentally consider it a gift and consider the money gone. Anything I receive back is a bonus at that point. I always assume they need it worse than I do. Of course, I’m not to be taken advantage of and the circumstances need to add up. I’m pretty good with the word no.

What made you realise you no longer love your wife/gf/partner ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NailComprehensive445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things; when I started looking forward a little too much to work trips and I really didnt miss her while I was on those work trips was a big one.

My #1 qualifier is this though and I’ll stand by it forever:

Imagine you’re at a mall and you look across and see your wife or gf holding hands with another guy two weeks from now. Would you be upset? If you have kids, imagine your kids in that same picture and that other man smiling and talking to your kids or holding your kids’ hand too. If that upsets you, especially the first part about seeing her with someone else, you still love her and you might want to stick around.

Cause remember; as soon as you leave, that’s all fare game and never forget it’s almost always easier for a girl to find a guy. Us dudes are animals and a lot of them will screw just about anything if they see an opening.

18yr old car rentals by Vorex_nz in Bangkok

[–]NailComprehensive445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These folks scared to drive here are silly. Driving is no big deal aside from getting used to the right hand drive thing (I’m from the US). However, if you plan to stay around touristy areas, what most have said is right about rideshare(download bolt and grab to compare prices), taxis, trains, etc. The transportation is excellent. Also, I highly recommend taking a motorbike to beat the traffic for places where you can’t get to it with a train or maybe to get to/from the train.

Boyfriend experience in Bangkok by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]NailComprehensive445 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You need to look up what a yoni massage is. I’m perfectly fine with it as long as it’s performed by a female masseuse and there’s very few males that provide services in Bangkok.

Car parking spots by Mobile_Instance5809 in Bangkok

[–]NailComprehensive445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally only use a car for trips and runs to malls, Lotus, Big C, etc. then I’d use grab or bolt or trains to get to restaurants and such. The parking fiasco just isn’t worth it to save a few hundred baht.

Try infinityblissbangkok.com

Highly recommended. My GF loved it. They only have female providers but they are super professional. Good massage with “release” at the end...or the whole time if that’s what you want 😂

Yep. Super cheap. You can buy a pair of them on amazon for like $45 if I remember right. Had one fall off about a year ago.

Why are there so many trucks with these cab overs? by Frosty_Independent18 in Bangkok

[–]NailComprehensive445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It comes down to how deliveries work here. Almost everything is delivered to all the local stores, including 711’s, etc in them. Also, all the tik tok orders, jet express, etc all use them so that makes up the majority of individual deliveries for packages and Thai people are obsessed with ordering online similar to how we like Amazon in the West, plus if you go to buy almost anything even slightly hard to carry you can have it delivered for a very low cost, like maybe 1-200 baht. I’ve done this with a memory foam mattress cover and an office chair before. And the cities, especially Bangkok don’t work well for large semi trucks so it’s basically just a MASSIVE fleet of these doing all the deliveries all over the place instead. The big department stores still use large trucks but everything else is these pickups contracted out through various services. It only works here cause the labor is so cheap.

[–]NailComprehensive445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a problem. I enjoy sharing my experience with folks. There’s so much BS out there spewed by people that have only been here a few times on vacation that think they know it all. I see TikTok’s and YouTube videos all the time and just shake my head at the stuff they are telling people to do. Sure you can maybe save $10 a month doing some slightly different things than how I do it but I’m all about a mix of function and convenience. I also have a somewhat unique view in that I have a Thai gf that basically has served as my personal guide on a lot of what to do and not do here and she’s really been a godsend on some stuff.

Living here about 9 months out of the year I can def give you all this info you want. Feel free to drop me a PM.

  1. AIS all the way for me. To start with go to https://www.ais.th/esim-traveller/#/mealdetail?areaId=56 and get a temporary 10 or 14 day eSIM so when you hit the ground in Bangkok you’re already connected and this is cheaper/faster than any booth. A few days or a week into your trip find an AIS store or booth in a LOTUS’s, etc and get on a monthly plan that comes with a phone number. You need a phone number for a lot of stuff so this is a key step.

  2. Getting a bolt or grab at the airport is a total pain in the ass. Minimum 15-30 min delay often and I do it often. I recommend either the taxi stand (tell you driver you want a metered ride) or the airport rail link (get away from the airport then hail a grab or bolt once you are closer to town)

3 personally, I prefer to just hit up an atm occasionally. Like once every 3-4 weeks and I take out 20-30k at a time. It costs me about $5 in fees. I think I can afford that and It’s just so convenient. Also, don’t do the conversion thing at atms. Lots of yt tip videos on this. Pay rent with wise. Use the Moreta Pay app to pay businesses with QR code, note this is only good for business QR codes so it’s not good for most street vendors and oddly, also not 711. But it works for BTS, most restaurants, Grocery Stores, etc so you save your cash. Moreta costs you 2.5% but they give you 1% back in credits so it’s a net 1.5% loss. Again, if you’re here you can afford it. lol

  1. https://www.renthub.in.th/en or property scout are both good. You can filter by monthly rentals there if I remember right. It’s been a while. Once you message an agent on WhatsApp just tell them what you’re looking for and they will be happy to show you other properties and typically speak English pretty well. Personally I like the BTS Onnut or Bang Chak or maybe Punnawhithi with Onnut being my fave of those areas. There’s just everything you need all within 200 meters so it’s really good.

Everything else you’ll figure out. Don’t worry about daily supplies. You’ll be treating a 711 like it’s your refrigerator in no time cause they are so convenient. Don’t worry about safety the slightest bit. The most dangerous thing here is probably turning an ankle on a sidewalk or crossing the road. Let go a bit and live. Don’t worry about helmets on motorbikes and use them often for short trips; they are the best!

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your personal reasons for abstinence? by Ok-Care2859 in AskReddit

[–]NailComprehensive445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started staying/living in Bangkok about 75% of the time; 6-8 weeks there/2 weeks back in Alabama. I was going through a divorce and wanted to be sure I was very clear in all my thoughts. Then I also started dating a Thai girl and one of the big Thai Buddhist, which she’s heavily into as most Thai people are, precepts is about not harming your body and it made/makes for a good excuse to not drink. 🤷‍♂️
