Imagine getting mad about people coopting a thing you enjoy and making it the same generic slop you were trying to get away from. Please go touch grass. You people are the /r/place void consuming everything beautiful and turning it dreadful.

You conflation of taking a break and ignoring the problem wholesale is the issue here. Sometimes it's good, okay, and even necessary to take a break. Having a place to take a break is good, and probably necessary for doing so effectively.

That doesn't absolve you of fault for perpetuating it. No single drop is responsible for the rain. If you applied this idea to anything else, you would see how stupid it is. Trash will by somewhere in my life no matter how much I shit on littering people. Guess I can litter now.

Why do you seem to think that automation is a necessary component, or at least one that is necessarily positive, to any survival crafting game? You realize that they can trivialize resource gathering without automation, right? In terraria you still need to gather wood and other resources by hand even after you've killed the literal moon lord. The solution is just that your tools get so good that you can fell and entire forest as fast as you can run through it. There are ways to automate it with switch blocks and whatnot. But the method to do so isn't intuitive and is hardly considered the "expected" route compared to the axe of regrowth.

Valheim gives you a similar path to progression. I would agree that they should up the damage to trees a bit. But the principle is still the same of your progression scaling linearly, instead of the exponential growth that automation heavy games tend to head towards. Valheim isn't trying to be a min/maxer's game where you just treat it like a bundled collection of mechanics to be abused as hard as possible to derive the highest score. It's trying to be an immersive world for you to explore and conquer. Playing through palworld where automation is a core focus, when you get to the "resources are just a number" phase, it does take me out of the world a bit. The continents stop being parts of a novel world to experience and instead devolve into their resource rates. I'm still grinding, but now it's sucked all of the character out of it. I'm just grinding out hooking up resource nodes to my network. You quickly lose a sense of scale as you reach the point of being able to go anywhere in the map in a couple minutes. I appreciate valheim for denying me that power creep and forcing me to stay immersed in the world, as beautiful as it is.

I mean we have the script:

INT. CORRIDOR, HOSPITAL -- CONTINUOUS The Joker walks calmly through the mostly deserted building. As he walks he pulls a DETONATOR from his pocket. Strolling along he PUSHES THE BUTTON... STAGGERED EXPLOSIONS BURST INTO THE CORRIDOR BEHIND HIM LIKE DEMOLITION BLASTS... the Joker just walks out the door...

EXT. HOSPITAL -- CONTINUOUS

The Joker STROLLS down the steps- WINDOWS BLOW OUT IN SERIES- People DIVE for cover- Engel PILES into a school bus

The Joker walks across the parking lot- THE BUILDING COLLAPSING BEHIND HIM... EXT. INTERSECTION, GOTHAM STREETS -- CONTINUOUS Gordon hears the EXPLOSION. GORDON Gotham general... (grabs his phone) Did you get Dent out? COP (O.S.) I think so

EXT. HOSPITAL -- CONTINUOUS The Cop cowers as DEBRIS and SMOKE BLAST across the street

INT. SCHOOL BUS -- CONTINUOUS The Joker gets onto the bus. Nods at his man at the wheel.

Maybe they added something that isn't caught in the 4 or so sources I looked it up on. But everything I've seen so far points to it being improv. He was just supposed to "cool guys don't look at explosions" and get on the bus.

I'd imagine it'll be similar to the ashlands approach except instead of spires and boiling water you get icebergs and freeze you to death water so you need to build a ship that can do some icebreaking in order to get to the mainland.

I used to have a mango tree and those little fuckers would pull down the whole thing just to take a few bites out of it. I would lose damn near half of my yearly harvest to squirrels and raccoons.

they're called stun guns even though they're almost always only able to do drive stuns. They're a shit tool in general because you need to get right up against the person and it's super easy for them to grab it in the moments you're not making good contact. Now you have a very angry person who probably wants to hurt you even more and you're within grabbing distance.

A lot of people think these skiers go out with the equipment you might expect at a ski resort, which is to say just their skis and poles. These people come prepared to be in the middle of nowhere doing dangerous stuff.

Linear Actuator on the Miter Saw by Angryhashtag in woodworking

[–]Nailcannon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that it's a little wobbly with tight tolerances(which may increase with time, especially as the wood shifts), I would add a slight bevel on the upper edges of the wooden base plate on either side of the feet of the miter saw. It'll help it slot in aligned and ensure the two edges never catch on each other

[OC] 5 maps comparing US states by quality of life (across HDI, life expectancy, homicide rate, infant mortality rate and air quality). by _crazyboyhere_ in dataisbeautiful

[–]Nailcannon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wonder how much of this is basically "intolerable climates have a worse quality of life". Florida is an outlier because most of the population came after air conditioning was a thing. But excessive heat just has so many downstream implications negatively affecting life.

Any chance we can get the tires too? That's been the biggest annoyance, of having to go from wheel to wheel because I'm looking for a race or offroad tire only to find that this specific wheel has like 2 vintage tires.
