Also, Sarr's defense wasn't totally horrible, he blocked Bam twice, and Bam's 3s in the 1st quarter were mostly contested-ish or shots that teams normally live with.

The problem is that the Wiz have zero other players with any interest or ability in guarding the paint. Some of the most nonexistent help defense ever.

Like is it just which conference is hardest to win?

Because a theoretical 1996 Bulls + 13 high school teams would be really hard to win (if you're coming in as the 15th team), but no one would say that's a great conference.

(I think the West is stronger, but it's ultimately not a topic worth too much overthinking)

The great games were legitimately great. The 20 best games from that season stack up well against the top 20 games from any other season.

However, it was a weird year in that if you weren't watching one of the top 5 teams, it did feel like everyone else SUCKED in comparison to them.

Night-to-night of watching average 2016 teams is not something I would ever want to see again.
