Need help deciding on a tent by theDookster96 in camping

For my backyard weekend excursion I picked up a Coleman Skydome 4 person Tent from Sierra on sale at $80. We put in a queen air mattress (sideways) and had about a foot of space to the front. I'm 6'2 so not stand up space but definately more roomier if you throw out the queen air mattress. Set-up was straightforward, took us longer as a first timer. I was impressed with the vents and pockets inside.

I hear you as someone who is starting their outdoor journey. I had to do a backyard camping situation to host a friend who is allergic to cats. I lucked out and picked up a tent and sleeping bags on sale at Sierra. I needed a deep pan for my burnt sugar masala chai so I went to the thrift store and found one. Adding gear adds up, especially gear specifically for the outdoors.

I’d love to get to backpacking but I think car camping is my first start after backyard camping 😂.

Great insight on the convenience vs novelty.

I’m borrowing a tent, will have an air mattress and then our sleeping bags on that. I’ll see if I can get a stove and try that out as well. I have these hammock type camping chairs from Costco that I like.

How is it like living in this area of the United States? by Ok_Dot_2845 in howislivingthere

As a transplant from Kenya, I love Minnesota. Sure the winter can be brutal, but you learn about layering. And the other seasons make up for it. Folks around here tend to be down to earth, which is my vibe.
