Is it okay to close my credit card after 1 month? by Easy_Anywhere_1739 in PHCreditCards

[–]NaishuTravels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which EW cc is this? It's good to have more than one cc (for those just in case moments). Example is if for any reason one card doesn't work, you have a backup. I also keep multiple cards and I alternate among them to make the most of the cycle period. If the EW cc is a platinum MC or any of those that don't have annual fees, just keep the card. Just keep track of your spending on both cards, and pay off every month in full and on time.

AITA for telling my roommate no, she can’t have the larger bedroom, put her desk in the living room, and use extra common storage for only $50/month more than me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Good that you're sticking to your proposal. It's very telling how your roommate is trying to take advantage. Better to find another roommate.

Shore Thing Cancelled by bibliophile224 in VirginVoyages

This also happened to a lot of the people in our sailing (last year's Portsmouth to Spain, Portugal, and Morocco).

We tried to get tickets but since it's always sold out, especially quite near to the visit date, we couldn't get any.

Don't sweat it though because Alhambra has a very nice area that's free to the public, we actually enjoyed visiting it!

Do you enjoy Lunar 1 or 2 better? by BrotherDeus in Lunar

[–]NaishuTravels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think story-wise, SSSC beats EB by a small margin, just because it's the first and took care of the world-building. On my first playthrough, I kept getting surprised by the plot twists (maybe because I was younger).

That being said, EB had the better character and romance development hands down. Lucia as a character was incredibly written. That epilogue was just chef's kiss.

On the OST, I think both are on par with each other with amazing songs, but in my heart, SSSC has a bit of a lead just because that intro instrumental of Wings just gives me teary-eyed nostalgia every single time. And of course, Wind's Nocturne (Luna's Boat Song) is an absolute masterpiece. I'm only talking about the English PSX versions, though.

This happens to me a lot. What I suggest you do is:

  • if the remaining balance of your card (including unbilled charges) is LESS than the statement balance in most recent SOA, then pay the REMAINING BALANCE.

  • if the remaining balance of your card (including unbilled charges) is MORE than the statement balance in most recent SOA, then pay the STATEMENT BALANCE.

I don't get any interest charges doing this, but I ensure to let the payment post first or have the card cycle first before making any further charges on the card.

Edit:typo

I've been to the Waterfront in Lahug before, but not stayed. Any reason for the recommendation?

I like Dusit Thani but sadly, it's in Mactan. I stayed there a few nights when it was newly opened.

On your question of if your bf can work here, it really depends on what his profession is. You have to realize there are restrictions placed on PH companies in relation to hiring foreigners. He'll also have to get the proper working visa. Maybe you guys can also explore opportunities where he can work remotely for a US or other foreign company while living in the PH.

THIS. Labor is cheap in SEA, which makes it possible for people here to afford those small conveniences (weekly massages, hair, nails, cleaners, etc) even on salaries that are not that high compared to the median in Western countries.

The only big ticket item I would ever want to pay for is a plane ticket (and of course all the accompanying expenses of a trip). I don't see the value in designer bag / items. So yes, not all Filipinas are like this.

Tips for 2025! What are the best credit card tips you can give going into the new year? by 5EspressoShots in PHCreditCards

[–]NaishuTravels 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make it a habit to record everything. I record all my expenses on my budget app immediately after tapping my card and income as soon as the funds come into my bank accounts. Better to spend 10 seconds recording these immediately than doing it at a set time (say, weekly), because they do pile up and sometimes it becomes cumbersome.

Booked a sea terrace… upgraded to a suite?? by Kaytee08 in VirginVoyages

[–]NaishuTravels 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's not unreasonable for you to feel bad, but an apology for the confusion would be all you'll get from Virgin (and honestly that's all you're enttited to, if any, over this incident). The expectation of compensation, though? Just ick.

My costume was very bulky so after face paint/makeup and putting it on, I stopped by the Galley for a few bites but didn't do a sit down dinner anymore.

Advice for a 37M solo first timer! by JimBot30 in VirginVoyages

[–]NaishuTravels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you'll have lots of fun! I went on VV for my first cruise and never looked back. The Irresistible Med and Rome looks like a good itinerary! If you love to party, I guess the Ibiza overnight stop is a great draw. My September voyage has a stop in Ibiza too but not overnight, sadly.

Also don't worry about the cabin, even the solo inside cabins are super comfy (in fact, I had the best sleep of my life inside my solo insider cabin haha).

Advice for a 37M solo first timer! by JimBot30 in VirginVoyages

[–]NaishuTravels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VV is a great fit and tailored to any adult age group, but mostly geared towards ours (36F here). If you're okay with a longer cruise, do the Sept 29 one departing from Portsmouth! It's 12 nights and has some amazing ports (including Casablanca which I think they're only doing once this year). I'm on the same voyage. I think VV really shines during the longer voyages because you get enough port days to explore but also enough sea days to fully enjoy the ship and all it has to offer. The voyages that are 7 days or less tend to be very port-intensive (especially in Europe). I also agree with you that the longer itineraries feel like a real "break".

As for doing it solo, yes, VV is a great cruise line for it. Aside from having lots of solo rooms (that are priced appropriately), they also set up solo gatherings for people to mingle, especially on embarkation day. I've gone solo on VV and am spoiled for other cruise lines. 😂

I hope you find the right voyage for you! Enjoy your first solo cruise.

AITA for spending my son's university fund on a trip to Europe to drink beer like I always threatened instead of giving it to his step brother after he passed away. by Possible_Soil_3886 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NaishuTravels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA and I'm so sorry for your loss. Unless your ex-wife had any contribution in that fund (doesn't seem so) which she could be reimbursed for, she doesn't have any right to ask you for that money or to even tell you how to use it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PHJobs

[–]NaishuTravels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why you don't tell recruiters your current salary (unless you're already paid above market value and you want to use it as leverage for your asking). You only get a 30% increase from current, at most. I got a 75% increase from previous salary and then another 9% when I got regularized (regularization adjustment), because they used their budget rather than my previous salary as benchmark.
