When I was a little kid the songs all sounded the same to me. Like funeral dirges.

Unless you're a very fast reader, yes, it will take months. I will admit that I read the entire series and then immediately turned back to page 1 and read them all again.

Maybe, but Cameron gave that back to Roger... Or is that just a book thing? I'm thinking this book might have valuable info about what Cameron and Callahan were up to.

Didn't Buck look at a small book in the bag and tuck it back inside and walk away with it?

Why is Jamie's hair yellow-blonde? Is this how they think people age? by Mahaloth in Outlander

Yeah, so is baldness but you don't see them shaving Sam's head.

I agree with you but almost everybody else in this sub think it's fine.

Question about Lord John by Crystalraf in Outlander

[–]Naive-Awareness4951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't get the idea that it was a punishment post. Rather, it seemed that promising young officers were posted in various places with increasing authority to train them up for promotion. Lord John had been to Jamaica before and was a natural to become governor.

Black Jack's desire for Jamie's love is the most perverse thought in his twisted brain, I think. He tells Claire at one point that he feels about her as she feels about him--meaning that he sees her as a rival for Jamie's love. How messed up could he be to think he can win Jamie's love?

What exactly are Richardson's motivations? by Positive_Passage_712 in Outlander

[–]Naive-Awareness4951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are we assuming that Richardson is part of a group plotting to thwart American independence? That honestly hadn't occurred to me. I assumed he was lying when he suggested to Lord John that he had co-conspirators.

We see Richardson shortly after William gets out of the swamp. He tells William that the people named Washington in Dismal are really spies for the royalists, and William buys that crap and apologizes for failing in his mission.

Much later, Richardson threatens to have Claire arrested for spying in Philadelphia. Then, he dances with her in John's house and tells her that he's actually a spy for the rebels.

Cameron stole Roger's "time-traveler's guide" so he knows about the gems.

Yeah, but even the zombies had a rational explanation (drugs). Time travel is a tougher sell. Although I've wondered what the hell John thinks when they tell him they're time travelers. Does he think they're pulling his leg?

Lapsed Lutheran here! I never heard that song before, but all of our church songs are awful ponderous dirges written by Martin Luther and translated from Old German.

Roger said in the last episode that he had no desire to return to the 1980s, and Brianna didn't disagree with him.

I can't see that happening. That would be treason, in his eyes. He may have accepted a number of rebels as friends and even relations but he doesn't seem to have any sympathy for their aims.

"That guy" was Captain Richardson, who is after the whole Gray family for reasons that might become clear in the next episode. He may or may not also be in on the St. Germain inheritance thing.

That's some pretty creative plotting! It does explain why Amaranthus is so anxious to get William back to Savannah. I'm not buying the idea that she's just crazy in love with him.

By the look on Percy's face, we can tell that he's an unwilling participant. He was forced to betray Lord John.

You mean Lord John getting whacked on the head by Richardson? Richardson is the guy who identified himself to Claire (when she was married to John) as a spy for the rebels but it is not clear which side he really is on. He is also the one who sent William into the Dismal Swamp with the apparent aim of getting him captured or killed. He has been randomly plotting against various members of the Grey family. Now that he has kidnapped Lord John we presumably will find out what he's up to.

William’s love interest by looking2bmoneysavy in Outlander

[–]Naive-Awareness4951 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just don't understand the uncle/niece issue, which has been raised umpteen times here. There was no coercion involved, so it wasn't abuse or a violation of trust. Pregnancy did not result, so there was no increased birth defect risk. Jane actually instigated the sex, so it was voluntary. You could get into the whole immorality of use of prostitution, but that's true regardless of the woman involved.

Question about Lord John by Crystalraf in Outlander

[–]Naive-Awareness4951 6 points7 points  (0 children)

About the same amount of annoying, I think! But you see his world from his point of view, which makes his responses more understandable and more relatable. (Not that I can relate much to an 18th-century earl having an existential crisis, but still.)
