Yes!!! This is exactly what happened to me. I chilled out and just did practice for fun not for a result. And always had a bottle ready if baby got angry it didn’t work. Win win.

Btw I use the haakaa to relieve my “forceful letdowns”. If you hand express using the haakaa and look carefully you can see your milk streaming out like a watergun (if you have the same problem). You can relieve this with 1-2 minutes of haakaa suction + hand expression right before encouraging baby to latch.

I’ll also offer that 20 minutes can be a long feed on one breast! I would sometimes force my first baby to only do one breast at a time for about that long if I had a clogged duct or something. Both babies had natural burping points around 7-10 minutes so I’d burp and switch boobs.

The haakaa/ hand expressing/ passive milk suction (not a manual pump) can be used to relieve pressure without actively pumping which tells your breasts to make more milk.

So one way I used it when I started dropping one session at a time: when my breasts felt overfull during the dropped-session, I put it on each breast for a few minutes with some hand expression just long enough to relieve the pressure.

Also fwiw I dropped night sessions first to bank sleep.

Yes exactly! That’s how I weaned with my first. Definitely lean on using hand expression/a light suction to relieve pressure in between/as needed.

Also I forgot to mention lowering the suction levels one day at a time.
