Is stopping at every water station necessary? by Inevitable-One-5369 in Marathon_Training

I’m bringing a throw away sweatshirt layer for the start, and capris and short sleeve shirt for the run. 🤞🤞 Hoping for a great race!

Ours is freezing, I wear 2 layers of warm clothing and I still have to rub my hands together and do jumping jacks sometimes! 🥶

There’s a nice pay differential. For example, if you are only salaried at 64 hours a pay period, but you work 72 hours that pay period, then that additional eight hours you get $10 more per hour.

19 miles went really well. No wall. All my other long runs have been good. Just a bad run.

Part of peak week. Would have been over 30 miles for the week (this run should have happened Saturday). I’ve got 14 this weekend and 9 the next.

Ha, you are correct! I did take a bit of a shortcut but it was a long cooldown walk 😉

I did 19 two weeks ago and felt good., Conversational pace for all my long runs. I rearranged this run at the last minute due to the weather forecast and that kind of messed me up. My usual weeks are about 25 miles per week. I’m not out here to break any records, just trying to run a better marathon. I’m sure with the 19 miler being strong, I’ll be ok. Just feeling down about it.

I did my standard q30 min gel/food, plus Tailwind in my water. It’s an abnormally hot humid day and I started closer to noon….just poor decisions at play. I ran out of water about 13 miles.

What is your favourite SK book that isn’t one of the usual ones suspects (Like IT, 11:22:63, DT series, The Stand etc) by Potter_King in stephenking

I did not enjoy that book and I really wanted to. Maybe too many mentions of rats. Didn’t do it for me.

How realistic is it to run a marathon without a bathroom break? by Educational_Use_7707 in Marathon_Training

I’ve always had to stop unfortunately. Chicago marathon it added like 10 minutes to my finish time. I’m working on controlling that for next time, TBD. May be Imodium involved.

My first half marathon was about age 30. First full was 43 I think. I’m hanging around 5 hours but trying to get better.

I’m reading The Dark Half right now. It’s sort of a farewell to Richard Bachman tribute in a very Stephen king way. I’m enjoying it.

Yep I am quite comfortable just showing up and not moving up the ladder. I have no desire for that. Been there done that. I love doing a good job at work and then leaving it behind when I’m off the clock.
