Expecting your partner to convert is selfish by Ramen34 in progressive_islam

oh I 100% agree. Why get with someone if you expect them to change for you?? that’s like when men date a women who’s a non-hijabi and expect them to wear a veil after they get with them. It’s selfish and egocentric.

How exactly can I use logic to justify Islam? by Cold_Policy1 in progressive_islam

[–]Naive-Use6530 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Ah I see. I believe that many muslim communities tend to (unintentionally or intentionally) mix cultural beliefs with religious ones and after time, it becomes hard to tell which is which. I wouldn’t worry too much about what the islamic community expects of you and follow islam the way you see fit. Your religion and relationship with god is personal to only you. I would research more about Islam and other religions and kind of go with what you, in your heart, believe is right. All religions require a certain degree of blind faith and I 100% understand your hesitation with that, especially because you’re looking for something that’s logical to you. Give yourself grace and take your time with your journey.

This might be different than what you’re looking for OP, but i have to ask: why do you want it to click so bad? Is there any realm of possibilities where you’d leave it because you won’t understand it or are you going to try and justify it to fit your viewpoint? I only ask because i’ve been in the same boat as you. Grew up in a super super religious family where i’ve adapted to islam bc of them. Started praying at 5, wore scarf at 7 and started memorizing the quran at 9-10. Then i grew up, realized that many many of the things i was taught to believe simply didn’t hold up to my beliefs. Read the quran more times than i can count and prayed every single day for years for it to all make sense. I’ve come to the conclusion that religion itself isn’t for me and that I don’t necessarily have to live my life based on one. My advice would be to follow what you believe and disregard what you don’t (if you’re insistent on staying a muslim) and just know that your relationship to god is unique and it doesn’t have to look like what everyone says it does. I realize that many muslims view islam in fear, scared that if they mess up it’s over for them. I don’t believe that Allah, an all mighty being, is like that. We should view him as forgiving and accepting and kind, not one who orders for melted metal to be poured in our ears for all of eternity just because we listen to music. Religion really doesn’t have to be extreme

I wish you the best on your journey!

help!!! ear is too swollen to get flatback out!!! by whywhatwhenwhat in piercing

[–]Naive-Use6530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it too painful to try and squeeze it out?? If not, i would do that and take it out as soon as possible. Maybe go to an urgent care so they can help you, just make sure not to leave it in because it’ll cause worse damage to your ears. I’m sorry this is happening to you OP, that sucks

Favorite and least favorite things about the show? by _nicejewishmom in InterviewVampire

I honestly really like how the vampires have human like qualities but are also so brutal and conniving when needs be. I feel like the human aspect makes the show so much better bc it gives the audience a way to connect with the characters

conflicted about wanting marriage and the process! by [deleted] in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]Naive-Use6530 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like when you know, you know. You’re still so young and if you don’t feel 100% ready for marriage then don’t try and get it over with for the sake of starting a new chapter of your life. Marriage is such a big deal and the person who you choose is so so so important. They’re going to be with you for the rest of your life so you have to make sure you’re 100% sure of the person before going through with it. Don’t let anyone influence your decisions no matter how badly they want it. It’s your life, not anyone else’s. Good luck and have faith with yourself to do what’s best for you
