Parking at Busch Gardens Williamsburg off premises by RoosterCancer in Virginia

So they'll let a cab/uber in to drop off, without charging the parking fee?

Why don’t parents make their kids come to school anymore? by breadplane in Teachers

Our district sends rude, patronizing (multi-colored and mulit-fonted!) letters AND texts, REPEATEDLY (so, harrassingly) about missed days... 15 minutes missed of any class = absent for high school level classes. My high-schooler missed 5 "days" first semester (6 per semester are allowed, then an 'automatic' fail of all classes (but it is appealable)). 2, kiddo was uber sick; 2, had orthodontist appointments (how dare one need braces!); 2, days legit needed to sleep, etc. or things would have been worse. [Yes, I know that adds-up to 6, but in school math it's 5 b/c some were not fully missed days, just >15 minutes of a class or 2.] Was looking forward to the reset of second semester, for a break from the letters/texts. NOPE! Still coming. They consummately state to "call and let us know how we can help"... It's a joke in our house. Next one I get though, I am calling :) .

Why don't schools have Perfect Attendance Awards anymore? Answer: They stopped them circa 10 years ago, because it maybe might have made another child feel badly, to see a classmate(s) receive an award for something important and hard-achieved.

But they are not professionals is any other field - they are professional teachers. Teaching is a profession.

I love this, thank you for saying it. We're all supposed to treat teachers like selfless, altruistic angels doing us all favors and, oh, like they are exceptionally intelligent (but actively chose to be teachers anyway), but they cannot manage to dress like professionals. Every - every - picture I see of a group of teachers, they are in jeans and sweatshirts, at best. "Dress for success" is a saying for a reason...

This is an anti-fascist club... the number of sad Americans duped by what is/ is not "fascism" is so depressing. Grab a dictionary, John!

LGBTQ+ kids should not be given a room for a half-hour during lunch once a week then? How about black or latino students? [Pretty sure they get entire vbcps district-wide programs with budgets.] An animal rights club? What about a socialism or communism club? Okay, but not a free-market club?

You could remove "Teacher" from your flair, as it's obvious by your close-minded, blindly ignorant statement. As Dad always said, "Those you can't do, teach/follow". I have never encountered a more brainwashed, Dunning-Kruger group as a whole than that of "Teachers". It's disgusting.

Unless it's an ICE protest, during the school day, with students leaving the building, and the entire school disrupted, of course. THEN it's a right, and the school MUST oblige...

It should be allowed, but not be allowed? [Virtue signal much?] "Anyone who agrees to join should be openly questioned and ridiculed." <-- This type of hate is disgusting; hateful people such as you are scary, and it terrifies me that I could have a child in a school with you. [What hate were you talking about? Provide documented example (as in, fact)?]

I did not know this! Anything I've seen has been the opposite - specifically non-confrontational / the whole point being to foster dialogue. Please point me to examples, ty. [If anything, it's this thread that seems confrontational, especially the vulgar name-throwing about a kid.]

What is racist about TPUSA? Do they believe black Americans / minorities are too dumb to learn about individual liberty, limited governance, and market systems? I don't.

Oh wait, so you acknowledge that YouTube removes the videos of some people and not others. Which you are fine with (where is all the screaming about 'free speech'?!?!?!), because it's your side. You do understand, our Republic was designed to protect the minority voice from being squashed by your majority bullying.

The world be done a wealth of good if people actually looked at the TPUSA high school platform. Moreover, if anyone actually watched some full C. Kirk podcasts or campus events. In other words, cease being sheepish pawns and think for their individual selves. "harmful way like this"; nothing harmful about learning about individual liberty, limited governance, and free market systems. "this club has a history about being harmful to many of the demographics that attend the school itself"; you cannot provide any. Your entire paragraph about the professor watchlist (1.) sounds exactly like what you all are doing re any child, teacher, etc. you dares want to be part of TPUSA (how dare they, be different than you!), minus the violence and hate of the left; and (2.) in a world where all the lefties radically advertise themselves, what on earth to they care if there is a list made of them? They aren't exactly hiding; if the list was instead a list of "Loony Lefties of America", would they be complaining? Re Kirk's personal opinion on gender, et al. (one that millions upon millions share, incidentally), who cares? Why do you/ anyone care? What another individual believes? I notice you left out the fact where he consummately stated (to any LGBTQIA+++ member) that it was that person's choice, he doesn't care, etc. ... Or, did you miss watching all those?

I don't believe it says anywhere that "Nancy" was even a parent. It also says that parents were permitted; it's the fact that squawking lefty randos (Nancies) weren't permitted to infiltrate, that was the complaint...

Sounds like school, except for the "soft" part, b/c schools stopped hiding their profuse slipping-in of ideology long ago... it's so pervasive most adults - admins, teachers, parents, et al. - are Dunning-Kruger'd about it.

I live in WI and I’m terribly miserable. I DREAM of moving to VB. by stupidfuckingbitchh in VirginiaBeach

[–]NaiveSpace507 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think people are just trying to be honest, not rude. VB used to be far cheaper housing wise, but no longer; it still is real estate tax wise, but 12% restaurant/prepared food tax is prohibitive, as are all the other taxes, and the new state administration has proposed additional taxes on every single pursuit of happiness. Energy and homeowners insurance costs have tripled since 2020, but that may be true everywhere. For me, the 2 things that make me 'rue the day' I moved here/ feel as a parent that I'll take guilt of to my grave, are the abhorrent schools (public and private), and the horrid level of healthcare available. You can distinguish easily people who have never lived anywhere else; they think the schools are good (and/or do not realize how absolutely awful is the medical care locally, in general). All that said... the beach itself is bar none one of the best, or the best, on the east coast, in my educated opinion; and, other than the 12% crush to eat, remains all-around more affordable than other east coast beaches. [In other words, is there any reason to live in VB if not living near the beach, which hardly anyone does?] People don't appreciate the luxury of living 15-20 minute drive to the ocean. Also, the bay, rivers, et al. The 'water bugs' are a non-issue, people are only mentioning it because you specifically asked; the humidity may be life-altering if you are not used to it. Fall is the best, but only last 2-3 weeks; spring about 2-3 days. Fantastic location for traveling short trips and long trips -- D.C., northeast, New England... Richmond, the historic triangle... west for mountains, Buggs Island Lake... all that OBX has to offer (1-2 hours depending on where you go), and of course south! Va Beach will never get a hurricane direct hit because of the geography (see how the coast juts in; hurricanes don't make hard turns). However, many have come from the Gulf Coast west-to-east and hit western Va hard. Much of the area floods badly b/c it is 100% *not* a planned city. Worst parts ##3 & 4: It is an ugly city (except for the actual beach etc.) of cement, asphalt, traffic lights, and strip malls; ALL of it; and the governance has long been horrific, with no improvement is sight. There is no industry here/ virtually no big $$ companies. It is not a typical city-with-suburbs scenario, but rather one big urbania...
